    So I've recently run into the head ache of my internet being down and I was all like hey, I'll play some xbox.

    Immediately, this did not work because the days of things just being simple and working are over.

    I found out between the notification pop up on the xbox and on a forum that you can play games offline, but two things have to be in place:

    1. Your xbox is your home xbox.

    2. Your xbox is in "offline" mode, which must be switched while you have internet connection.

    Investigating more, my xbox was infact my home xbox and I used my phone as a hotspot (in the process destroying my data plan because it immediately started updating games and burned 5 gb in 5 minutes) to switch the xbox into offline mode.

    Still no avail, I can't use the products that I paid for without big brother watching over and moderating me.

    I understand that this system in a digital gaming world likely is in place to combat pirating and duplication of games... but come on... 205 games in my library and I can't touch any of them because I've supported the digital revolution and don't have any
    discs. There has to be a better way.

    And no the games I have been trying are not game pass content.

    Yesterday Xbox had a major server issue which affected everything from buying/downloading games and DLCs, games asking to be purchased again, payments being refused.

    Their servers are not back to normal yet and lots of users are complaining they're still having issues. Would you please wait a few hours to see if things get back to normal again? If they don't, please try to sign out of your Microsoft/Xbox account and in again on all your devices.

    Xbox One - Offline game access

    Is this the only Xbox One you have? If so, then log in with the account that purchased the games and make the console the Home Xbox, this should let you play the game offline. You have to be online to make the console the home Xbox though.

    It's usually caused by a couple of reasons.

    1. Your Home Xbox is not set as your console. If it isn't, that is one reason you cannot play your games while offline.

    2. You haven't put your console in offline only mode.

    Also if you cannot make the console go offline, pulling the network cable out (if wired) or turning off the internet can help (if wireless).
