  1. Home XBox and Family Access or How I learned I should switch to Playstation

So, just spent nearly 2-hours on human-to-human chat with Microsoft support. Here was the outline of my issue. In my house we have 6 Xboxs, 4 of the 6 are in shared areas (family room, media room, gym, and kids game room.) I have my family members loaded
in as my family on Microsoft. Yet I only get to select one Home Xbox. Thus on 3 of the 4 shared Xboxs, whoever downloads/installs a game has to be signed-in in order for anyone in my family to play that game, or we have to download/install four copies....
This results in constant log-outs as one person is playing in one room and somebody wants to play a game they downloaded/installed in another room.

So spent 2-hours online to be told about 10 times that Home allows all content to be shared. Also told I was "allowed" to switch my Home console 5 times in a year...it would be 5 times in a weekend if we tried to play that game. No solution there...

Essentially I use XBoxs as internet access, media, and Blu-ray devices... Getting a single device that does all that is not much less expensive than getting an Xbox and Xbox comes with that added benefit of games...so why not do that? The answer is apparently
because Microsoft doesn't want single households buying multiple XBoxs...if they did they would solve the Home problem. As it is, I will be checking into PlayStation and if they do not have these idiotic policies, I will be slowly switching to Sony as I replace
    Xbox consoles.

Microsoft....really how hard is this...all devices are on my account...all users are part of my family...for goodness sakes, it couldn't get much easier. Now if it is an Xbox Live issue I understand you don't want large numbers of people sharing a single
regular Live account. At the moment that is limited primarily by the inconvenience of only using one Home console. How about saying a live account can be shared on a single console outside your family (current policy) and with up to 4 family members on
all registered devices. Or if a super account was needed, increase the subscription rate to 99.00$ and allow up to say 8 family members. Use a limit on switching families or being a part of more than one family to control abuse versus the current silly Home
policy. One of if not the most powerful software/tech firms on the planet...I would think you all could figure this out.

    :)

My Home Gold seems to not be working properly

I recently purchased a 12 month Xbox Gold subscription. Unless I am misunderstanding how Xbox Home Gold works, it is not working as it should be. My family member's accounts cannot seem to access live. My account is the primary account and all works as it
should. While playing NBA 2K16, my family members' accounts are not recognized as having live. However, when they play Halo 5, everything works fine. Is this a bug with 2K or something else? I have set my home Xbox as the Xbox One that we are all using and
they are all part of my family. Can someone explain to me what is going on?

  3. Logging in from another XBOX

On the xbox I have set as "home" I have the gold account. Two other family members (non gold) also have gamer tags on there. Right now we can all play online, and have access to digital games we've bought.

Lets say Im over a friend's house and login to their xbox. At the same time one of my family members is playing at home.

    What should happen?

Am I okay to play online at my friend's and access all my games at their house AND my family members can still play online at home? OR does the system log the folks on my home machine out as long as I am logged into the new machine? Or something different?

  4. Home XBox and Family Access or How I learned I should switch to Playstation

This is more of a publisher of the games problem wanting to get their money for the games that they sell.

This is out of MS hand.

Even PS has the same type of policy.

  5. That is a good point. Except, same policy applies to free games and when I have the disc....do I really need to load one copy, sign in on a different account load another copy....repeat... 4 copies of the same game, loaded off the same disc on one console.
Not sure that is even possible. None of that gets the game maker an extra cent.

  6. Hi there,

As Steeledwan7764 say Sony has a similar policy when it comes to game sharing.

You can always submit suggestions and feedback at Xbox Ideas, powered by UserVoice.

  7. When you go to load up a game The system looks for the license for the game there is three ways you can have the license for the game.

    1. Digitally purchased: the owner of the account is the current actively signed in profile.

    2. Shared on the home Xbox: the Profile that digitally purchased the game has set that console as its home console.

    3. The disc is in the console

So when you load up a game the system first checks to see if you have the digital license for the game.

If not it checks to see if their is a digital license by the way of sharing

If neither one of those are available it will check to see if the disc is in the console for that game if not it will give you an error of "are you sure you own this game or app if not then sign in with the account that owns the game"

I will be switching to playstation.

To sevendust, it would be great to stay out of the politics if it wasn't hitting me in the pocket so hard. I think what this post may have been started for was the 140% hike in price for people on the Family Plan. When talking to a rep of LIVE about a year
and a half ago, she made me aware of the "Family Pack". This was the answer for a father with three kids each wanting their own Xbox 360. So, I went and slowly bought two more 360's. A year later, I start getting rumors of it going away and having to pay full
price for each individual box. This is not something you can just ignore or each of the other accounts will simply shut down. Parents are now faced with a choice to make. Pay the equivalent of $60.00 every three months to keep everything from being interrupted,
or, start trading it all in on the PS3's and buy a new game that comes out every three months for the same price as Xbox LIVE? It sure seems to be an easy decision. Yet, I've been a loyal LIVE member for about six and a half years now and I find it hard to
leave what I know without speaking out how I feel about this. I already own one PS3. It's not a bad system. Very good graphics. If the Xbox One doesn't offer me more than just an expensive score keeper, I'm afraid my family's LIVE days are over. LIVE does
not give us any free TV channels. It doesn't give us the internet connection. It does not give me my Netflix or Hulu Plus. I have to pay extra for all these things. I rent movies from LIVE and buy other things from them. Having four accounts allows me to buy
more than one copy of the same games for others in the house to play together online, in our own rooms, on our own TV's. So, with all that said, they are making money in all kinds of ways by making it more affordable for families to have LIVE. 140% hike will
drive families away, not all, but a lot.
