I am interested in buying a new sound system to work with my x1 (not the S model ) ... budget is less than $200.

Setup with AV Receiver

So currently I have an AV Receiver in my Home Theater setup. Will that work with X1?

Right now Xbox 360, BluRay and DirectTv plug into AV Receiver via HDMI and 1 HDMI cable runs behind wall to TV.

With X1 I expect to have setup as follows:

X1 and Xbox 360 plug into AV Receiver.

DirecTv box plugs into X1.

Dont need Blu-Ray any longer so will move to another TV.

Will this work? Will X1 be able to control the AV Receiver and TV? When I say "Xbox, On" will it turn on the X1, TV and AV Receiver? When I say "Xbox, Raise Volume" will the X1 raise the volume on the AV Receiver?

It might be a problem that you are putting the DirecTV feed via your home theater unit. I found this a issue a while back with a TiVo box. My solution was to get an active HDMI splitter and putting a feed to the back of the home theater unit and the other
to the xbox. The other thing you could try is change the sound output setting on the xbox.

SmartGlass for the X1 is a different app than the 360 app, my understanding is that SmartGlass for the X1 will not touch your home network but connect to the X1 via Direct WiFi

Usually a HTiB system has a receiver. Typically it is a built in reciever/DVD or bluray player. Most HTiB systems have a Digital Audio in. It is rare to find a HDMI input on them. Hence why a standalone receiver is better. Oh, now I see. It is just a complete
speaker set. To the OP, as the above poster said, you will need a receiver that would connect all of the speakers. They don't run cheap either. You're better off buying a true HTiB system unless you have the money to start dropping on building your own home
theater setup.

All speaker systems will work, it just depends on the input/outputs available and to figure out which ones to use. I cannot find info on the I/Os for that speaker system. I did find the speaker though. Can you clarify the inputs/outputs on it? I'm assuming
it has a Digital Audio input which in that case is your best bet.
