Hitting the Xbox to fix tray issues.

Hello I have had my Xbox one for a week and bought a disc based game today only to find out I had the issue of that god awful grinding noise. I looked into the smacking of the Xbox base. Lo and behold it worked. It took multiple attempts. This isn't advice
as that is what I am looking for. I just want to know. (Preferably from this who have done this themselves) is it a permanent fix. You know to save me having to get it replaced? Plez halp meh

My console is no longer making noise!

So it's not a big deal or anything but my Xbox Slim no longer beeps when hitting the power button or the disc tray button and i just wanna know if it's something I can fix?

As i've asked you multiple times, in your last thread.... Has your drives tray chrome fascia been damaged or loose & lifting the tray up, by hitting the consoles face-plate, when it closes..?? It can cause disc readability issues...

If you can't take advice & just criticise others + call them "Snobby Brown Nosers"... You can just deal with it & get it fixed...

 

If there's a fault that has caused this grinding noise I very much doubt hitting it would fix it completely.

If it happens again just get it replaced.

 

It does fix it as it's a plastic gear wheel that is poped out of alignment, hitting the base pops it back into mesh. As for whether it's permanent or not I couldn't say, but it is a known DIY fix for the grinding disc tray fault. Apparently if the transit
of the console is a bit rough it can cause the gear to pop out and cause the nasty noise.

 

So do you reckon if the console stays stationary I shouldn't have this issue any more?

 

Try it, if it starts again take it back under warranty, hopefully it's sorted!

 

After hitting it I have had no issues and it is running watchdogs like a dream

 

surely its now running off the install, not from the disk, try running some DVD's, and unstalling and reinstalling it to make sure its still working.

What Enen is saying is that because its installed the disc drive wont be functioning, so load a few different games, DVDs, blu rays to check that the noise has gone permanently.
