It is so weird to have this new Hitman in an episodic format. I didn't mind it when The Walking Dead did this, but a Hitman game is something that has to be a complete experience in my opinion LOL

Saying that "Hitman" is episodic like "The Walking Dead" isn't really correct.

It's being released in stages as they expand the game to new cities and provide more contracts for the cities that are already there.

Also Denan... apart from "Sleeping Dogs" and the original "Plants vs Zombies" I don't know of any current gen games that give you all the content for standard game price.

Normally it's 3/4 of the game for normal game price, or 3/4 of the game and some skins for a premium price and then get ready to pay another £20 - £40 for a Season Pass where they give you the 1/4 they held back on day 1.

All the content including all future content for normal game price is a better deal than 95% of games on the marketplace.

 

Az, I said that I want it to fail because I do not want other companies to go down this route. it's not that I want IO Interactive to suffer, but more so the game. I just want to play from beginning to end not parts and then wait for more and then wait for
more and so on.

I see what you are saying about paying full price for a game that is 3/4 and the paying for the rest as DLC. Luckily the real bad offenders of that are not as common. The new Tomb Raider, The new Batman and Battlefront took the mickey out of people.

I guess I shouldn't hold all games to the standard of The Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition.

 

So you really should be hoping this entire Gen falls flat on it's face.

You have essentially pledged to always be over-charged for your games.

 

No, Hitman is still Epic, despite server problems & episodic releases. Intro pack 17.99 well worth the$... Episodes are about 10$.

 

When I buy digital it's only when I can get it cheaper than on a disc. Cdkeys.com often have sales on really cheap game codes. Recently I bought MGSV for €25. Recently Forza 6 was €25. Sometimes even the MS store sell them cheaper although it's rare.

 

@Azrael, you're talking about DLC, that is completely different dude. This isn't DLC, this is portions of the main game being released. To which they will further add DLC on top of. So my point still stands.

If I go out and buy any game on the shelf, I can finish the story of that game 100% on that one disc. That applies to literally every game on xbox aside from this one (and the telltale games obviously). DLC is completley different, that isnt' the main story
of the game, but side stories that add to the main story, or like you said, skins and weapons and such that have add nothing to the story whatsoever

I agree DENA that this is different than DLC and way worse. It's terrible. They even knew it would upset people. If it was such a new and improved way to sell a game they wouldn't have felt the need to defend the way it's being released.

 

DLC used to be used to add content and expand the game.

This gen the more common practice is to make the game, release 3/4 of it and then release the final quarter as "DLC" and call it a Season Pass.

Since I don't pay extra for any of the content being released for "Hitman" then it's advantage consumer again.

Don't like the model? I get that. I'm not overly fond but I'll support getting all the content for normal game price and no microtransactions.

On top of that it's a great game.

I 1000% agree with the fact that this " Hitman " game is going to be awesome since it is going to release all of its content under the regular $66.00 price tag without shoving season passes and micro-transactions in our faces

............

With that being said, I do think that it is messed up to need to connect to the servers to play a Single Player mode.

Single Player mode should be playable off-line, like it has always been in the past

............

However, I would probably pick it up after ALL of the game content has already been released

Just select "offline".

I haven't tried it yet but I've seen the option there.

Also the game has a very robust autosave system which saves at every progression and transition you make.

On top of that you can save anytime. Something previously unavailable in Hitman Games.

 

Offline, no challenges available, no leaderboard, no saves....

If this game was complete now and I was playing it, I would play off-line because I couldn't care any less about the challenges / leaderboards.

I play to have fun LOL

I only do the challenges if I get good at that game. Other than that, Challenges just tend to be things that make me hate that game

In regards to Leaderboards, I honestly couldn't care any less if someone else did better than me on a mission.

What is the point of being on top of the leaderboard if that person had a misreable time achieving that feat?

No saves? Doesn't it save the game data in the Xbox One HDD?

You can save anytime online so do it if you think you need to.

Also like I mentioned above any transition... the game autosaves. So like... go outside... it autosaves.

Finished the Paris Contract last night like a clumsy child.

Took me 40 minutes and I had mega time bonuses because as I discovered afterwards the mission is HUGE.

There are all sorts of events playing out so my 40 minute stab could justifiably be labelled a "speed run".

The challenges give you a hint of the possibilities available to you and some of them are quite eye opening and leave you thinking "Well I've just got to try that"!

Good fun so far. The wife had a great time being my "handler" and telling me what to do.
