Hitman won't be a complete game at launch

I see a lot of people who simply are saying they'll buy at launch and then return for full price if they don't make good on the promise.

Steam started doing refunds several months ago but it's limited to 2 weeks or 2 hours of gameplay which is acceptable for finished games but for the pay to play alpha/beta/unfinished games it doesn't help because you won't know if the game will be finished
or not within the refund period.

This isn't a question of waiting to see what will happen anymore. The number of games that use this format and actually release games that are good for us as gamers is extremely small, the number of developers that leave games hanging lacking content/updates
or simply walk away from the project far outweighs the good ones.

I honestly didn't expect AAA titles going this direction and that's what I find most disturbing with Hitman.

 

^I was never into the Hitman series anyway, so it won't make any difference to me this time.

That being said, if more AAA titles do start going this way, I will most definitely start being much, much more particular on how I spend my money.

I already have a leg up as I use a rental service, so I could just play 'part 1' and wait to see what happens with 'part 2'. The only pitfall would be if they kept it digital only. In which case, they'd be waiting awhile to see any of my money. In fact,
they'd be waiting until they put out the whole game. I don't... and won't... pay full price for half a product and a promise of the rest later. IMO (making no qualms about it) that's ridiculous.

Uhh duhh , Im a big fan but I will be sipping this one unti GOTY comes out if it does at all.

True, this statement is. At least with many. That is why they market like that. People ask for things and they go another route like the consumer is stupid. For myself I am very capable deciding what I want. Companies are always trying to convince me
I want something through marketing and such. And I just pass. I know EXACTLY what I want and can think for myself. Oddly, this mentality has infiltrated the American political scene. People think they need leaders instead of representatives. But that
is another discussion.

So, what have you been told you want? Did you enjoy it because they told you? And who tells you want you want exactly?

Game Of The Year versions will become really popular in the future because of lack of content in the initial $66 purchase and the season pass / DLC frenzy. I don't see things getting better anytime soon

Look how many people are already doing this with "Batman: Arkham Again".

At least with the ONE there are so many games out there now it's no problem to wait for the "Complete Game" edition.

 

^^I totally agree with you AZ. Batman wasn't complete at launch either and that's why I didn't buy it. They're charging €100 for the complete game.
