Hitman won't be a complete game at launch

Buying a game that has bugs is one thing, buying a game that's unfinished though? It's just mind boggling why anyone would defend this. If the games not finished.....delay the *** thing until it is.

 

Of course I'm for real.

We spent probably about 6 months getting ready for "Street Fighter IV" with threads that carried on for pages and pages and pages.

Then the game released... on a Friday (in the UK at least) and was forgotten by Sunday.

We are part of a self entitled MacDonalds generation that are used to getting what we want when we want because that is what our Western Culture promotes and conditions us to value.

Well it's starting to bite us in the backside and it's starting to bite developers in the wallet because even a game like "Street Fighter IV" took a long time and a lot of money to make and to have it dry up and become "yesterdays news" within a couple of
days of release is a bit of a big problem.

Do you understand yet or am I going to need some paper and crayons?

 

I know we haven't seen eye to eye on things lately Az, but you really are talking crap.

If someone pays for a product, no matter what it is, they Are entitled to getting what they pay for. No one should have the right to withhold half of the product just because they think it best.

 

This is a disgusting and very disturbing practice. Let's guess how many Devs/ Pubs would be cool if we only had to pay them a percentage of a Game unless it was the greatest. My guess, none would go for that.

I don't really disagree with you.

The unfortunate fact is that too many "modern gamers" are grasping the fork by the pointy end, trying to shovel food into their mouths with the handle and then rushing to the interweb to make a post about how "Forks Suck".

This isn't a new thing.

"Morrowid" was an amazing game that over time, was reduced to a loot driven shopping trip.

You could have drowned in the tears of nerd rage on the Bethesda Forums when "Oblivion" released with Randomly generated loot appropriate to your character's need and level.

Lots of people hated it but the developers NEEDED to do it to get people playing again.

Those who got over it played it and had an amazing time.

Others are still trying to convince complete random strangers on buses that Bethesda were "wrong".

And sometimes those people take to the internet and post "Hey guys! Did you realise the end of a fork can make a really good spoon?"

You make some decent points Az but it is also fair to remember that not every decision made 'for the gamers' is the right one.

Just look at Dragon Age: Inquisition which removed the player's ability to assign their own stat points.

 

I'm just a strong believer that we as consumers should get what we pay for. There are people out there that think they are entitled, this normally means they want something for free or something changed to suit them. This is different though, people aren't
being entitled because they want the full product but the company only wants them to have half now half later, people are simply wanting what they are paying for and deserve. If the whole game isn't ready, they should just delay until it is.

If it's half a game, it should be half the price.......much like the game preview in a way. But when they eventually finish the rest of the game, they could stick it on the store like an expansion.

 

This is not a good sign. This a AAA title. Or at least it used to be. Releasing portions of the main story. AFTER Hitman Absolution (in Squares words) "underperformed in sales".

From my standing point, it looks like they are trying to make $ off of the game (I get it is a business, but I don't have to like the practice) They know when a good cut off point would be. How do I know I will get the same quality as Hitman Absolution?
I don't. We never really know until we play it. However, saying trust me with you 60$ and I will finish the job a little later is garbage.

Hitman is not Revelations 2, Game of Thrones, or Walking Dead.

 

Hitman sucks anyway so it's okay.

I mean, seriously who tapes a price tag on the back of their head? He must be worth like 5 bucks just like the franchise.

In all seriousness doe, this is is pretty bad. I wasn't planning on getting this game but now the only way I'll play it is if it goes free like Absolution.

^ thats fine but we are going to still complain about it as its just. Imagine if no one complain about the XBOX ONe when they told us ahead of time about the always on DRM or no used games unless you go through the pay wall. Just because they tell you ahead
of time doesnt mean that we should just take it.

Don't know how many read the entire article or not, but I copy / pasted a portion of it that I feel almost perfectly fits my opinion of the issue... not to mention I think it makes some valid points about the whole situation. If things fall the way this
guy is thinking, then it's at least possible that something positive could come from it... fingers crossed.

This is probably what a good amount of the community will do. Many will wait for the game to enter a more complete stage and then purchase for a cheaper price down the road. It's a smart play, as you save money, but definitely a lose for the development
team. A small player base supporting may hinder the team from continuing more content for a product that already is losing money. In turn, we get robbed from game content that was axed to compensate for costs...

I see a lot of people who simply are saying they'll buy at launch and then return for full price if they don't make good on the promise. Honestly, this is the best outcome in terms of gamers vs. game developers, provided you can get full price on the refund
(XOne I know will grant one full digital refund per gamer). The beauty of doing so means it comes out of the console's pocket and not the developer's. With a lot of games floundering lately and gamers on Steam, PS4, and XOne reporting success in doing this,
I guarantee this practice will either come to a close soon, or consoles will start punishing developers for selling broken games.

I'm not going to be someone who is swayed that incomplete games are a good thing for the industry. Do I pity the developers who have to work long hours to finish a game? Sure. Do I feel any remorse for the marketing team who knows they take a profit loss
not launching in the holiday season? Hell f****** no. We already pay for pre-release content, additional content, and in game content...at least give us a full game at launch, guys."
