    Hitman: Genius Or Scam?

Again, I'm sure part of it is because it will pressure people into a digital purchase and cause those who are "dipping their toes" to purchase the additional levels if the game is entertaining enough to want more.

But also part of me would like to believe that they want people to enjoy the game and be drawn back to the experience in a gen that is used to having everything they want straight away.

"Destiny" managed it's community's gameplay brilliantly.

They got people coming back for more.

Maybe "Hitman" will do the same.

Goatsnatcher is convinced only gullible people will buy it but those gullible people look to be set to get a better deal than he did on "Battlefield: Hardline"

Only time will tell but I enjoy the series and "No Microtransactions" and "The Whole Game" including all the future release cities for a reasonable digital asking price is something worth supporting as it is more than you get from every other game.

I suspect those people who think that "episodic" means the game is going to be like "The Walking Dead" or "King's Quest" haven't fully grasped what Square Enix is doing with this one.

Az. You asked the question... "Genius or Scam". Yeah it's a scam and imo only the gullible will buy into it. Sorry if that offends you.

Oh, and for the record. I never bought Hardline for myself, I bought it so my son could share it, much like I did with many of the game over the last 12 month's or so since I've been playing mainly pc game's.

See you never got round to completing Absolution Az. So I'm baffled as to why you would pay the price for all of the unreleased game upfront. Surely you would have been better off paying for episodes as they were released. Makes no sense.

    Sure it makes sense.

I expect that buying the game in pieces would end up being more expensive than buying the game as a whole.

That's how it works with all the other games that are offered in pieces.

If Square Enix breaks this trend then good for them. I still haven't lost out.

From what I have read about the game so far I believe the developer is taking an innovative approach to their came and the way it's content is released rather than simply looking for a new way to make me pay twice for a game I've already bought.

Would have loved to finish "Hitman: Absolution".

I missed out on the NUNS!

Alas, these are the perils of having a family, other hobbies, gainful employment and a truckload of other games to play through.

Mind you... I still have my 360 so never say never...

Lol, the only thing that stopped you finishing Hitman was whatever game came out the week after, and yes the Nuns were great.

    Hitman: Genius Or Scam?

Really looking forward to this now, the reviews are coming in and they all seem reasonably good (somewhere around mid 70s)

They only criticism I've seen is that it the whole episodic thing and it leaves you chomping at the bit for more which I suppose is a complement of the game itself when you dig down into it.

This is how I'm hoping it will play out and why I feel they may be on to a decent formula.

I too am really tempted, I think the only thing stopping me is just because it's a different kind of release. It certainly isn't because I'm not getting all the game at once, I'm more of a casual player that goes back to games monthly anyway because I normally
have several on the go at once.

Well this game has very nearly made me late for work today, decided to fire it up for half an hour just to check its all ok and 90 mins later realised the time!

It plays really well so far, I would say it's far more blood money than absolution in gameplay style. It looks good, not quite Tomb Raider good but still pretty.

I'm a little into the Paris level and its massive, there is an immense amount of replayabilty here for anyone that chooses to explore different ways.

Honestly if you like this type of game and retrying different gameplay styles it's an absolute bargain at the intro pack price.

    Same issue here.

I thought I'd just dip my toes... and play a few minutes for a small taste.

After completing the introductory level I'm now going back to completing it in different ways.

Nice simple controls allow you to take on complex situations and the varied approach to tasks makes missions fun and varied and certainly adds to the replayability.

    Good fun so far.

    Hitman: Genius Or Scam?

I'm torn with this, I really like stealth games but am a little unsure about this business model. In some ways it almost feels like the preview thing for games such as elite dangerous in they are using the money to fund further development of the game, but
this is a major developer not someone just starting out and using it as a kickstarter.

This is where I'm a little dubious, if they feel the need to do this are they in money trouble and may not be able deliver the full game later on?

I think if anything I'll just grab the intro package for £11.99 to get my Hitman fix, see how it plays etc then take it as it comes as to whether I pay for the upgrade later on, in total I think it works out about £3 more which I can live with.
