Hitman: Genius Or Scam?

I don't think it will be a scam, I just don't like the way it's being marketed......

 

Well "Hitman" and I are friends again.

The marketplace has the pre-order up and you can order the full game including all future content and bonuses for £44.00 which is a lot cheaper than most complete games and their season passes.

This is what I expected in the first place and was interested in so I may give this a go now.

 

I'm not sure. I'm on the fence. I'm not into episodic games until after all episodes are released. I don't like this wait a month for a little bit more of the game nonsense. If this is successful it will most likely mean other companies will do it. Soon
they'll all do it. There really are some things that annoy me about gaming.

I love Absolution though. I might check it out after all content is released.

They're already doing it in the
GAME PREVIEW program. As far as I'm concerned the new
HITMAN game should be in it. Just my opinion.

 

Actually Brandiesel I think it's a bunch of things but... that one of those things is actually getting more people to play more of their game.

One of the things Publishers get from XBox LIVE that's a benefit to them is information on what people have played in their games.

Now more than ever people are easily distracted. We're a MacDonalds generation that can anticipate a game for months and then are easily distracted by "the new shiny".

Certainly part of the decision to release it this way is to attract more sales, digital and otherwise but I would at least like to believe that part of experimenting with this new delivery method is to help maintain an interest in playing the game by keeping
it fresh with new content and interesting with new places to go and new things to do.

What sold me in the end was their commitment to NO MICROTRANSACTIONS.

So even if the game is being steadily expanded over time for a reasonable amount of money I get the whole game.... the pre-order bonuses and a game that the Publishers have gone on record as saying "we looked at microtransactions and decided that is not
the direction we wanted to go for this game".

That will do for me.

 

Sorry not everyone is a "McDonalds" generation gamer who fits your supposed model, many of us like to settle into,a game and play through to the finish for the full experience. Ironically you actually do follow the "the new shiny" as you flit from game
to game as they are released, so this may well suit you, but it certainly doesn't suit everyone and your broad characterisation of people's gameplay based on your own play style is not the norm for many gamers, I would argue the other way, certainly I would
say most forum regulars don't play that way, or the friends on my activity feed. It's not an idea I would like to see become the norm.

And why anyone would want to pay full price up front for a load of promises is beyond me.

You mentioned Absolution and the Chinese Market level, yes it was fun and when I completed the game I went back and did it differently, but only after I had progressed the game and reached the story conclusion. If I only had the Chinese Market to play
until the next chapter was released it would have got old very quickly and not been as enjoyable at all.

I actually agree with Goth it should be in the preview program if they want to go down this road.

Absolutely not will I buy a "game" in this scam. I would be more then happy to wait till about 2019 or so when it is complete and on sale for $5 just for spite. I never liked the Hitman Games so if it never gets finished so be
it and I'll move on just fine.

Open Market, bad decisions die.

 

"Game preview" is usually a "beta" of a full game and not a game with episodic content.

 

This game doesn't belong in the Preview Program because it's not a preview game.

Preview games aren't finished products.

You can insist that this isn't a finished product because it doesn't comply with the format you're used to but that's just being afraid of change.

This title is still giving you more than pretty much any other full game released on the ONE.

It suited you fine for "Oblivion".

I play for fun. I expect you do too.

 

^ it was an observation not a criticism. But to respond I came to Oblivion late to the party and found it too "dated" and didn't really enjoy it. Apart from that I tend to see most games through to the end, (as my history shows) so why you singled that
out is a bit strange. Still as long as it makes you feel better, that's cool.

And it's clearly not a finished product as they have stated that themselves. I do however see the difference between this and the existing preview games

As much as I absolutely love The Walking Dead season 1 & season 2, I am pretty much done with this whole " Episodic Release " thing.

With that being said, if there is a game that uses this " Episodic Release " thing that I like, I am going to wait for the complete collection that will surely be released one year later

Afraid of change lol....... No, it just isn't finished, just like preview games. It's not finished and they're pushing it out in bits because they know gullible people will buy it.

 

I'd consider it a preview as it's not finished. That's just my opinon.

I'm still curious though. If there are no microtransactions then whats the point in keeping people interested in their game longer? I can see them doing that if they are have micros out the wazoo but they don't.
