History on this date in gaming history

I went the DMC reboot at $25 and to be honest, I would have even been happy at $35 as after I played it, I just loved it. I am a huge fan of the Ninja Gaiden series though, so this just reminded me heaps of that on the hardest difficulties. Not quite as
brutal, though challenging none the less!

I haven't played any of the other games and I did ask the friend who put me onto the reboot and from the information he gave me, I was happy to just sit at the reboot and no revist the older titles. I'm sure they're great in their own way, but fixed cameras
really turned me off.

 

The ninja Gaiden series has been set to "Difficult" since the arcade game. I still haven't gotten around to playing NG 2 and 3 on the 360 properly, though I have finished the Black Label edition NG on the original XB and the remake on the PS3. The XB Ninja
Gaiden was awesome tbh, it works on the 360 as well.

Only played the 1st DMC and I liked it at the time.

On this date, 16 years ago, the NA market saw the release of Metal Gear Solid on the PSone. Even today, it's still one of my favorite franchises.

 

On this day (23rd Oct) in 2001 - GTA3 was released on the PS2, What A game changer this was. I manged to buy this before it was pulled from the shelves in Australia. I spent several months playing this game like crazy.

I'll add this one for 23rd Oct 2002 - THPS4 was released on NGC, PS, PS2 and XB. As it turns out, I bought every version

GTA 3 was definitely one of those games where it just blew me away, I always thought GTA would be awesome done like that and when it actually happened, it was exactly how I imagined the game would be. I just had to buy the ipad version when it released on
the 10 year anniversary.

Let's not forget the radio stations as well!

 

I think even Opie & Anthony did some radio for GTA 3. Epic, funny stuff. Ah GTA 3... silent protagonist FTW! Even in his silent cameo appearance in GTA SA he showed more endearing character traits - while still being threatening - than CJ. Or pretty much
any GTA character since actually. Heh. =)

 

The radio stations are the best, I had mp3'd all of them to listen in my own car. Soooo, I enjoyed driving through University listening to MSX FM as loud as possible. Students recognized it,,,,,,,,,,

 

^Yeah my brother had MP3 rips of all the stations, which I still have today on my computer. I think my fav song was on Lips and it was actually a song about GTA, like I'm sure it was like the unofficial theme song back then.

^ I feel a bit more normal hearing this, I had ripped them with a mini disc player. My Cell Phone had the Pager Tune for messages.

@RedEye - Haha, that's a pretty sweet idea with the pager noise, see GTA is the perfect example for this thread. It changed both gaming and real world culture. For me, GTA 3 was also the first game I can remember the media sensationalising the impact violence
will have on young gamers, but I haven't gone on a rampage and we're up to number 5 so, haha.
