    Historic fraud on my account


    Hi,

    My XBOX gamertag was hacked back in 2011 and I raised a call with Microsoft (still have the reference) when it occurred. Can I get the money spent refunded? The game removed from played? The achievement added removed? The fraud happened remotely and not
    on my machine.

    XBOX support's online chat directed me here.

    To clarify details:

    • The original call reference was: SRX1163313061ID
    • The game in question is Fifa 12
    • All XBOX points were spent on FIFA 12
    • I have never owned or played FIFA 12
    • The achievements added were two
    • The money spent was from an XBOX prepaid card - I still have £0.80 left
    • The hack happened remotely

    If you can still sign into your account, this would mean that it could be an accidental purchase or someone who knows your account has made a purchase on your behalf (unknown to you).

    The only steps I could recomend is to change your password, do not cshare your account with anyone, and check your purchase history to see what the purchase was.

    If you can confirm this was a purchase on your account, you can contact sales support and they can look into this for you.

    DO NOT ask your bank to block the transaction or this could cause your whole account being locked for FRAUD.

    In addition to reaching out to support (assuming in the US the # is 1-800-469-9269) make sure to change your password.

    You would have to contact support again as they would be the only ones who could issue that. Since it's been 7 years though it may no longer be possible.

  6. With such an historic case I do not believe this will be possible, as you can understand only a certain time frame will be applicable for any sort of claim.

    You can contact the support team for fraud, but since so much time has passed and you have no followed up on, I would not hold my breath.

    You can contact the support team for fraud, but since so much time has passed and you have no followed up on, I would not hold my breath.

    Dear mhe2005,

    Your best option is to contact Microsoft Support http://support.xbox.com/contact-us.

    You should also access your Microsoft account via https://account.microsoft.com/.

    From there you should revise your security settings and change your password information.

    You may also want to enhance your security by enabling Two-factor Authentication. So when someone tries to access your account or buy anything they will have to verify a second time they are you via phone, email, or the Microsoft
    Authenticator app.
