High Ping on Xbox Live Network Stats Test

I'm living in the UK and whenever I run a detailed network statistics test i get told i have a ping of 165ms!

not sure whats going on as its on a wired connection and registers an Open NAT, port forwarding done etc. On the same network my other machines (laptop and pc) have a ping of around 32ms on speedtest.net.

anyone know why my xbox one has such an insanely high ping??

Dedicated servers? Then why the lag and connection advantages?

Yeah I'm wireless. Router sits pretty close to my Xbox so I guess I'll connect it and see how much that helps. Hope it's not the proximity of MS's servers to where I live. That would suck.Click to expand...

go to settings/network/test multiplayer network/when test completes hold down both triggers and bumpers. Come back and tell me what everything says.
BTW. The ping in the tests is to Redman, Washington not your local servers. Dont know why they did it that way, but they did. Its going to be much higher than a local ping. For example, my Xbox One settings ping at 84ms. Titanfall pings at 35ms. So I ping 84ms to Washington, 35ms to Chicago(local servers). I live about 300 miles from Chicago(local server).

Strange recurring problem with not displaying xbox live menus

you may want to run a network test in network settings. the tabs wont refresh properly if you suffer from high latency aka Ping. my new network has 86ms ping from the old 500+ ping

Because Microsoft Xbox Live Servers to be located in Seattle (Washington) but i hope in the future to realise Europe Live Servers

thats great but this means i get no HD content on youtube etc which is not acceptable for a next gen console

ignore the xbox tests, they are a burst ping test to a server in central US, it will always read high on that. the ping will be a little higher than your pc as it is going though xbox network first.

and speedtest.net does a test to a close by server which is why it will be lower.

if you do a network check directly from xbox then the high ping is obvious - your xbox test the network with a server in US (i heard it is in Seattle)
