    High packet loss, unstable speeds


    I just got my replacement box from repair a couple days ago due to a faulty disc drive in my day one edition. It worked great out of the box even though I believe I lost my day one only to get a refurbished back, but whatever. I set it up Saturday with no
    issues and had been playing destiny, ac: unity and some minor master chief collection when that actually worked. Now today I get home from work and I get booted from destiny after 5 minutes. And again. And again. With new patch I figured OK must be buggy..
    check my network status on a whim and I'm getting between 14%-27% packet loss and varying download and upload speeds. I have 75/75 fios, and it has never been an issue. After spending the last 5 hours running speed tests, swapping cables, resetting my modem,
    and even hooking up my not yet returned original console and still have the same issues. I am completely at a loss about what is wrong and it seems to me like it is xbox live as that is the only variable I cannot physically test. Or both consoles I have suddenly
    have NIC issues out of the blue.

    Thanks for that info. Please see our Multiplayer Connection troubleshooting guide as it includes steps for issues pertaining to packet loss
    under "You have high packet loss". While your packet loss is not currently high, any packet loss can contribute to any network issues you're experiencing.

    Post here if you have high ping and packet loss

    I am also experiencing unacceptable upload packet loss:

    Provider: SaskTel

    Ping: 74ms

    Download Speed: 3.85Mbs

    Upload Speed: 0.69Mbs

    Download Packet Loss: 0%

    Upload Packet Loss: 8%

    Hey there Salival!

    Sorry to hear about the connection speed issue! What is the brand and model number of both your router and modem? Do you connect your Xbox One console to your network through wireless, or is it wired? That will help us a lot with narrowing down the issue!

    Yup same problem here Salival. Xbox just posted a service alert though so they're aware of it now. It's happening to many of my friends as well.

    Xbox multiplayer problem

    Could be your internet as a whole. Maybe packet loss with noise in the line. Best thing to do is to speed test. It will list your packet loss. Plus high jitter or a high ping will also mean there is an issue with noise in the line. Might worth a look.

    Download and Upload speed do less than you think. You barley require a decent up/down to play. The biggest components are PING and Packet Loss. Packet Loss causes rubberbanding in games and PING is the latency of your connection to theirs. High PING means
    a High Packet Loss (or Jitter leads to Packet Loss too) and what is known as Lag. I have a 20Mb/s download and as long as you and me have the same PING, your 1.6Mb/s download is no different for gaming.
