High Latency

So the new MS Azure servers were made available to Australian Xbox live users. Did anyone notice a difference? I didnt. My latency is still around 240-300ms.

My Console is up to date.

Multiplayer test

Upload: 0.81Mbps

Latency: 278 ms

NAT type: Open

This test shows that it can peak the maximum out of my ADSL 2+ connection, though my latency is fairly high.

i did some investigating and my router was able to give me some interesting information in a log file:

This is displaying my local IP address of my XBOX one connecting to these various IP's which reside in US. Why is my console, which is configured for the australian region, contacting US servers when there's supposed to be AU servers now?

Is someone from MS able to please investigate whether AU region XBOX's are actually pointing to the new servers? Im in Perth.

I am guessing our consoles require an update to be pushed out so it knows the new AUS servers exist?

I m experience a very high latency values and packet loss in Xbox Live.

after discuss with WOT support team they told me to contact my internet provider.

so here is the data

Details about my connection:

fibrer 130mb/s dn | 12mb/s up

163 ms latency (tested)

linksys AC1200 Xbox wired.

PingPlotter software.

We have thoroughly examined the PingPlotter file you've sent to us, and our diagnostics indicate that you are experiencing packet loss and high latency that will cause your reported issue.

You can see this in the "162.213.60.77" file where almost all hops after the 13th have close to 90% packet loss. The latency during this time also jumps up in the 500ms+ range.

In file "eu5-slave-101.fe.core.pw", you can see there the packet loss happens 100% every hop. There is also a fair amount of latency.

In file "us4-slave-89.fe.core.pw", you can see there the packet loss happens at almost every hop. There is also a fair amount of latency.

To prevent further connection problems, we recommend you to contact your Internet Service Provider (Customer Service is the appropriate department in most cases) by any comfortable means of communication and ask them to inform you of any current technical
problems that may affect your connection.

Your Ping Plotter file may be used as proof of your case, and we recommend you to send this file to your ISP .

The hops that are showing 100% packet loss are configured to not reply to ICMP requests

And the vast majority of your latency is within Telia's network- who are contracted to peer by the devs.

Not aimed at you BTW, whilst VM do have issues in some areas, it takes me to the fair that "technical" support from the people who own the infrastructure the game servers sit on is so poor.

You are relatively fortunate in that your VM end looks fine- do you have issues with other sites/servers (in which case we can dig a bit deeper for you) or just these ones?

my question is , where is the problem and who can solve it.

Then why every game do i get red dot and lag all over the place no one else seems to get this issue?

The latency is so high because it pings a central server in Seattle. Living in the UK i get around 160 ms. The closer you get the lower the ping.

This ping doesn't mean anything when gaming online. Most games choose the closest server to your region/location to connect to games.

 

Yep, that test isn't pinging the nearest Azure data centre. I just ran the test and the latency was 157ms, but when I fired up Titanfall and connected to the nearest Azure data centre, the latency was 28ms.
