High Latency Good Connection

Please can someone help. I have had high latency which never lowers below 200ms. However the broadband speed is 40-60ms Any solutions? Very stressed as my Xbox One is brand new.

Low Ping Signal and Constant Lagging

Low ping = good.

The 'bar' is not ping, it's the general quality of your internet connection, and a latency timer. The higher the latency, the higher the ping, the worse the connection is, the lower the bar will go. I'd do a speed test on an internet browser to see if it's
your internet connection or not.

 

Connection Problems - High Latency?

Looks like your numbers are good. What do you mean by ping/jitter creeps up to 30/10ms range? A jitter of 3ms is not bad at all.

Have you tried switching between Best and Normal in preferences when searching for a game? It helps me a lot.

Try speedtest.net for a speedtest and pingtest. Select a server that is at least 500 miles from you.

Also, you can try www.dslreports.net. They have a smoke ping test that pings you over a period of 24 hours from three different servers. That will tell you how good your connection is over a period of time. Look for anomalies.

Also, do not access any bandwidth hogging apps like youtube when you are playing.

Check all the processes and services in your computer. Shutdown processes that are not required.

Also, try the following in different command prompts:

ping -t www.google.com

ping -t 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254 or whatever IP your router is assigned.

You can also try a "tracert www.google.com" and then do a ping -t to the various IPs in the hop. If there is any trouble in your network map, it should tell you.

 

Do you see this latency within a specific multiplayer game (where your Xbox pings specific dedicated servers), or do you see this latency within the Detailed network statistics test with the Xbox One's network settings? Are you connected wired or wirelessly? We'll
need that information, along with the listed information below to further understand the issue.

really sorry for the late reply. As i said my connection to internet is really good on my phone, but on my xbox it is terrible. The game which i am most concerned about is Rocket League. I have terrible lag spikes which range from 100ms to 800ms. I am playing
in Europe. Im connected through wireless. My ISP is BT and my router/modem is BT Home Hub 4. When i look on detailed network statistics on xbox my download speed ranges from 1-4 mb/s and my latency ranges from 200-500ms. I did a broadband speed test and my
ping was 46ms. So there has to be a problem with the xbox

Have you tried a wired connection directly to your Xbox One console from your BT Home Hub? Give that a shot and let us know if the issue persists on wired connection instead of a wireless connection. This will help us narrow down the issue!
