High CPU usage even when idle

Still have the problem (even with the new version 8.8.15003.00000) that the xbox app always uses 100% of one CPU core the whole time, even if it shouldn't do anything (e.g in Background). As I know from others, this is not the normal behavior, but on my
system I can reproduce the problem every time I start the xbox app.

I used the sysinternals process explorer to get a bit more into detail and there is one thread that always using the cpu. with the start address "threadpoolwinrt.dll!DllMain+0x1320".

the Threadpoolwinrt.dll that is used there has the file version 10.0.10240.16384.

Windows 10 is up to date (slow ring).

May this have something to do with my avatars items-combination or somting like this (portal 2 blocks as extra item)?

My system's hardware shouldn't be to bad for that:

Core i5 3570K (integrated intel GPU is deactivated, so it shouldn't be a GPU driver conflict)

8GB DDR3

AMD Radeon HD 7850

I think I figured it out. When Captain America 2 was playing, that's when the CPU usage went high. I've just played 2 Fast 2 Furious and there is next to no CPU Usage. The difference? CA2 has a DTS soundtrack.

Ahhh that makes sense as the Xbox doesn't natively like dts

 

For me it uses low CPU for a while, but then for no apparent reason CPU usage spikes and it becomes very unresponsive. Doesn't seem to correlate to anything I do. The only thing I can do to make it usable again (for a time) is to kill the process in task
manager.

 

Is there nothing I can do about it? It is not the normal behavior that one cpu core is used 100% all the time, that's for sure.

Is there a way to "uninstall" and "reinstall" the xbox app?

 

Hi, if you want to uninstall the Xbox App you can run this command in Windows PowerShell:

Run as Admin and make sure all applications are closed

Get-AppxPackage *xbox* | Remove-AppxPackage

Then, run this to reinstall:

Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

After everything is done, restart your PC. Most of the Xbox App will be installed but you will have to finish the installation through the Windows Store.

If you encounter an error installing the Xbox App again in the Windows Store, just restart your PC again and it will work the next time you try to install.

After the xbox app had been added again through the store, it behaves the same. Just using the whole processor core all the time, without doing anything else at these times. I try it with my wifes profile, maybe this works.

 

didn't work, either. With her account, the app has the same behavior.

btw. the uninstall command threw 2 errors, that the xbox app couln't get uninstalled, because it is a part of windows, and "maybe" the administrator could remove it via features. But, well.. the powershell command should have done that. But at least I had
to redownload it, but I think it didn't really download it, because the shop said something of ~54mb and it was instantly installed.
