Hi, my mic isn't being recognized ('found') when i'm in a xbox party, any help?

I bought a brand new xbox one-s controller so that it would have the 3.5mm input for a mic so that I could talk to my friends. I then bought the xbox one CloudX Stinger Core headset. When I plug the headset into the controller, I get no audio and the mic
isn't recognized. When I go to the xbox controller options, the "Volume" option is greyed out. When I try to start a party, it says "We can't find a microphone for these people".

I have tried updating the controller with the mic plugged in, but as it is a brand new controller, there wasn't an update available. I have also tried restarting the xbox/controller and unplugging the mic, but it still isn't being recognized as plugged
in. I have plugged the mic into my computer and it gets both audio and hears my voice, so I do not believe it is the headset.

I am very frustrated that a brand new controller and brand new headset that I only got because it is Xbox licensed is not working. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds to me it could possibly be your 3.5mm jack inside your controller. I just had to replace mine. Hope this helps.

Yes, I tried that. My computer seems to recognize my headset and mic just fine when I go into sound settings. I can talk and see the mic volume react to my voice. The problem just seems to be with the Xbox app and talking in parties.

When I run the troubleshooter, it doesn't find any issues.

Can you elaborate a bit more for us? What type of controller are you using with the console? Is it an official Xbox One controller? What about the headset? What type of headset are you using and have you tried to use another headset or controller yet?

Party chat isn't restricted to people playing the same game. I'm regularly in a party with people who are playing different games (various regulars on these forums) and have no problems at all either joining or communicating. The only problem with party
chat I have found is if I host a party and then plug my mic in then it doesnt work. But if i make sure its plugged in before I start or join a party then no issues.

Strangely when my friend says "hey cortana" in his mic mine will hear it as well and activate when we're in the same party, volume on my headset really isn't that loud so it's just weird that it can hear his voice through the headset speaker
