    Hi

    Please do not use plan A as opening the console and changing the internal hard drive could get the console banned from connecting to Microsoft's servers due to the console being modified.

    I have a 4TB portable external hard drive connected to my console and it works without any issues for me.

    Portables are dying thanks to smartphones, but in sense, MS does have a portable, called WP8! However, I've been wanting a true Xbox Mini for years! Anyone see that article on IGN about those people trying to make a 360 portable?

    That would not work for a system update. Your console would have to be at his house for that to work.

    If you have game updates, you could get a portable USB drive to bring there and update the games then plug it back in yours.
