You can change your alias here

When signed in go to the tab "Your info" when on that page click on "Manage your sign-in email or phone number " it will ask you to sign in again, so enter your password and sign in.

it will came up with a page titled "Help us protect your account" enter the email or phone number so you can process to the next step.

if you're doing it by email check your emails for the code or phone you will get an sms message

enter the code.

after all of that you will get to a page titled "Manage your account aliases"

Under "Account alias" add an new email addess and make it your primary alias after you done the you can remove the old one.

I never talked about merging accounts. All I was asking is whether a gamertag can be moved onto another account that does not have Xbox Live? For example can an Xbox Live gamertag profile be moved to a different email address from the present Microsoft
Account (email) and then be able to safely delete the Microsoft Email address without it erasing the Xbox/GFWL profile?

If that's not the case the system is pretty terrible. People are complaining on the video above that I posted that their Xbox Live profile was assigned to their mums/dads emails and they wanted to transfer it to their email, but they are saying this is not
possible and that it was only once possible on the Xbox 360. But since I don't have an Xbox 360 I don't know how else to transfer a gamertag profile into another email.

like mentioned it is not possible to delete a xbox live account, but there is a way for you to achieve the goal you want.

You can move xbox live accounts to another Microsoft Account, which will free up the email address and to be used to move another xbox live account to it.

Be aware that you can only move an xbox live account to another Microsoft Account when the account has been on a xbox 360 console for at least 30 days without it being downloaded and be sure not to use any devices with the Microsoft account while doing the switch

So you will basically want to do the following.

-Download the profiles to the xbox 360 console if they are not present on the console yet and wait 30 days if one of them was downloaded

-Move the unwanted xbox live account you want to remove to a (new) different Microsoft Account, to free up the email address

-Move the wanted xbox live account to the just freed up Microsoft Account
