    I have a Samsung M3 slimline portable harddrive. Its 500gb and a 3.0 USB. The xboa one picks it up and I have to download it but then it says no media device. Why won't this work? Everyone else seems to plug it in and away they go. Please help !!

    Hi im looking to purchase a external hardrive for the xbox one and im thinking of getting the samsung m3 portable hardrive can anyone suggest any other makes that are good that i should go for

    External HDD recognised as media device only?

    I have a
    Samsung M3 500GB USB 3.0 portable HDD     and have formatted it on a Mac to be MS-DOS (FAT). There doesn't seem to be any partition on it, I've deleted the hidden files also (except one called Trash which cannot be deleted), but when I try to use it in my Xbox
    One it reads as follows:

    *music symbol*

    External

    465.4 GB free of 465.7 GB

    Pictures, music & video

    When I select it there's no option to format, only 'View contents' which then takes me to the media app. It definitely fits the requirements of USB 3.0 and over 256 GB, and other people seem to be having no problems with it's 1TB and 2TB siblings. I'm pretty
    new to external HDD and formatting in general so apologies if this is an easy fix!

    Which Xbox One model would be best 4 me?

    Currently it would be hard to find an Xbox One with a hardrive with more than 500GB, that being said you should invest in either an external hardrive or a new hardrive with at least a 1TB.

    what i did to fix it was got an external hardrive put all of my staff on my xbox harddrive and put it on the external

    and i formatted the xbox hardrive

    then i run the update and it worked
