hi i cant play online when i got a xbox live gift card

I got a xbox gift card for my birthday and i can get games and stuff but i cant play online or join parties

Xbox live renewal!

Basically last year I paid for xbox live via the store, at christmas got a xbox live gift card off my aunt great! So cancel my renewal online and entered gift card code, got a message to say I had redeemed a 12 month code! Today my xbox is saying my live
account can't play online?? Any help would be great

Hi, i was wondering, i jus purchased a 3 month gift card for xbox live gold, i tried to play online and it sent me to another screen giving me the option to get gold, but i thought that gift card enabled us to play online with gold that way we didn't have
to put our debit or credit card information on there..
