Ive had the same problem for months now. Always played campaign mode offline. I was thinking could it be you need xbox live and it turns out it is. Thats cheeky what xbox has done. Do you know if you have to pay it every month for the whole dlc download
pack or one payment download it then cancel xbox live?

If it being suggested that the only way to obtain the "Compatibility Pack" is to subscribe to Xbox Live that is being held hostage by Microsoft in order to continue the game bought in good faith.

I would be surprised if Microsoft were to take this position being specifically unethical. If it is the case I will not be held hostage by anyone and will just dump the game and demand a refund.

Personally I think there is some bug or files have been corrupted producing a condition that has not been adequately addressed by Microsoft.

If there is "Compatibility Pack" that addresses the problem then make it available to anyone that has bought the game in good faith.

Hopefully someone else has come up with a fix. Everything suggested on this site plainly does not work in my case!!

So what i think you can do is pay for the subscription and download the content and then cancel your subscription. The game is working fine for me now. I reinstalled/uninstalled the game 3 or 4 times total. So trust me when i say i know your frustrations.
I even went back to target trying to get my money back for the game. That was no success. Today after i downloaded the content i was able to unsubscribe to the xbox live with a refund. Im glad because i only paid for 1 month, but i did get the refund for the
9.99 and bought a 1yr subscription. Its kind of the way of new age games. I am no gamer by any means. This is the first console i have boughten since playstation 2. I hate the fact that you have to buy something to turnaround and download something. Any how
that is one way you can download the content and still get your money back. its funny how they say a free download, but if you dont have xbox live you cant download it. I know it sucks, but i guess its the price you pay to play. Anyhow i hope you are able
to figure it out.

Sorry to hear that you're having this problem. Please do the following:

• Press Xbox button on the controller
• Go to "My games & apps"
• Hover over "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" and Press "Start"
• Scroll down to "Manage game & add-ons"
• Make sure to download the latest update that has been added recently which should be called "Compatibility Data Pack 1" (18 GB)
• Check your "Ready to install" page too

You may also check to see if you have any other updates on your Xbox.
