No. The game does not support local co-op.

Players can’t share inventory using split-screen mode, and both players must have the same language settings to play on split-screen. You can play this game in split-screen, however, only the arcade mode is available for split-screen.

Moreover, you can play split-screen this way:

Click the Play button on the top bar.
Select Single Player > Arcade, and then choose Co-op or Versus.

I understand, but as I mentioned not all game modes allow you to play in split screen, that would be 2 controllers as you said, what mode are your trying to play on split screen?
