Hey MS, I thought you WANTED us to embrace all digital, but you don't act like it...

It would have been interesting to see the had would have turned out; I can assure you that at least five X1s would not have been sold.

There were no options with their original version, just [tag:dealwithit]. People now have the option to either use the Kinect or not. We know have the option to either have discs, that retain a monetary value, or go digital. Consumers can now use the console
offline (After the initial update.); whether they just can't get reliable internet, or if they just wish to bring the console on vacation with them.

Where is the downside to any of this? You're missing the "Buy 1 Get 9 FREE!" that NEVER would have happened?

    Peace, J.R.

Hairy...i told you why.... because the internet was blowing up with bad press from every anti-MS site and every pro Sony board. You don't seem to be able to comprehend when. I say "small in comparison"

The average consumer.... heck, the average gamer was not paying attn in the 8months before launch. The only ones that were were the die hards. And they are but a small number of people compared to the overall consumer base that is attracted to gaming.

The vast majority of the overall consumers never even knew, and still don't know what the original MS vision was. That is because it was hijacked by a relatively small number of sniveling self entitled scared gamers who were able to decide for the rest
of us what we would see and get.

Because MAJOR companies change their policies for a SMALL number of discontents...Lmao. If Microsoft had a "vision", maybe they should have shared it with us...

Hey, if MS did change their policies based simply on a small percentage of people that didn't matter, then you know what that tells me?

That MS didn't have the balls to go through with their vision and are just spineless. A real visionary wouldn't back down from their supposed innovation and power through the adversity. But go ahead and let those salt levels rise: you never had to buy the
Xbox One and if you're upset about the changes the only one you have to blame is yourself for buying it. Or MS for changing it.

    Let's break it down then.

They are a huge company with a massive P.R. department. They could have stated their vision.

Relatively small? Compared to the masses that were all for their original vision? Wait...you stated,"The vast majority of the overall consumers never even knew, and still don't know what the original MS vision was."; if you don't know what you're missing,
how can you have an argument or be displeased at the end result? What am I not comprehending? Please enlighten me.

    Peace, J.R.

D33dles.....I wasn't even talking to you.

And where did I say the overall consumer base was for the original MS vision? care to point that out? no? Can't? didn't think so.

What I said was the overall consumer base never even knew what that vision was. NO ONE WAS PAYING ATTN...... EXCEPT THE HARD CORES. By the time more of the market was paying attn. The vision had been watered down. And I know this may come to a shock to
you, if you are a hard core..... you are a small drop in the overall market.

You don't seem to even get my point....I'm not arguing the overall market would have embraced their vision, I'm arguing that they never got the chance. A RELATIVELY small number of extremely vocal gamers decided for all of us what we would get. That, to
    me, is bad. Very bad.

  8. Hey MS, I thought you WANTED us to embrace all digital, but you don't act like it...

Dude, this conversation, could go on forever.

The answer is in the simplicity of the statement, that you seem to comprehend, yet the whole of Microsoft cannot.

Apparently, only you believe that a small minority of vocal gamers, made a multi-national billion dollar company with decades of experience, who are used to creating products, the way they want them. Bow down to the pressure of a few. And got rid of the
otherwise excellent policies, as you see them.

All i can say to that is. Really. Got to go to sleep, Work in the morrow and all that. But, the logic, just does not seem justified. Sorry and all that

I am by no means "hardcore", though I do enjoy video games over television. Under the original M.S. policies there would have only been a PS4 under my and four other friends T.V.s. The casuals "I" know have no interest in either console; they moved on to
games on their tablets and phones. The hardcore are what drives game-consoles (The original Wii was an anomaly.); people that play the occasional video game are not dropping $500.00 on a system. I thank the hardcore though, for being vocal enough to get M.S.
to change the policies I didn't like so I could enjoy this new system.

Once again...Microsoft is a huge company with a MASSIVE P.R. department. Once again...what vision? Once again...What are YOU missing out on?

Hairy, again you choose to twist my position just because you don't like it. I am not arguing in favor of the MS vision. I'm arguing that free markets should allow a company to put out its vision to all consumers and let the free market decide if it fails
or succeeds. In this case, the consumer did not get that chance......a small vocal group decided for all of us what we would get.

That is ugly and bad..... no matter what the product. That is not free market.

  12. Dude, sorry for long wait of a reply. As i said, had to go to sleep, now up getting ready for work.

We will have to agree to dis-agree won't we.

But i will just put this to you. It wasn't the group of people (be them big or be them small), that decide for Microsoft. It was MICROSOFT, themselves. They did not have to bow down to peer pressure to appease, some small group of fans. They did not have
    to revert any policies.

That was like before the console was released, and tons of people were asking Microsoft to remove the Kinect. And all people got was, it will never be release with out it. And other people said, You are not "FORCED" to buy the Kinect, you have a choice,
    Don't buy it.

Microsoft were in the same position, They decided to change their original policies, They decided to bow down to the so called "Minority", They decided to change things (for the better IMO), and allow the Xbox One to compete in this market. You cannot blame
    anyone, apart from Microsoft.

Here's an analogy for you. You have just changed your look, You have changed your Hair, clothes, grown a beard, and you have an awesome positive outlook on life. You go out and show this new you to your friends, say 100 of them, but only 25 arrive to see
you. And 3 of these say, no don't be silly mate, i prefer the old you.

Would you change because of this? Would you personally, not have the courage to stand up. I am pretty sure you would, and you are 1 person. It is no different for Microsoft, If their vision, was the all great, consumer friendly choice, best thing since slice
bread choice, they NEVER WOULD have changed it.

And them changing it, so quick and so fast, in the fast of the supposed small minority, is a great indication, of how much they were actually trying to screw people other, and that small minority, did everyone else a favour.

@Hairy People are upset with the digital prices in the Titanfall thread BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO PAY MORE to buy the format with the features they want. Something they could've easily avoided if physical copies retained the same function as digital copies.

You saying the physical copy from Amazon is £18 cheaper is entirely irrelevant to someone who wants instant switching of their games on Xbox One. You seem to think just because its something YOU personally can take or leave, others can too. I have zero physical
copies of games as a result of the reversal and fully intend not to buy ANY as they don't take advantage of what the console can do.

I wouldn't even say anything about this if the console wasn't revealed as having this base feature which is now separated by MONEY for everyone who still wants said feature.

So far the general consumer has either lost money with the reversal by buying the more expensive version without the preorder bonuses or forced into buying the cheaper option without the features they want because they don't want to contend with the digital
prices. Were exactly is the "win" in this equation? Too me it looks like people are compromising to fit there specific wants, where as it wasn't necessary beforehand. Way to be pro consumer Mr. Union Rep. /excessive amounts of sarcasm.

Word of mouth is a very strong thing. With every positive MS put out about the original Xbox One there was always more people there to bad mouth it, thus making its OVERALL perception negative. You can keep acting like it was the vast majority of consumers
all you want but as they say "One rotten apple spoils the bunch". Multiply that by how many people have internet and put anonymity into the mix to create one big crapstorm.

"That is ugly and bad..... no matter what the product. That is not free market."

It is a free market though, as MS were free to ignore the criticism and continue on with their original plan.

MS should have explained the benefits clearly to customers. How was the family sharing plan going to work? How were game prices going to be affected? Where could consumers trade in their disc-based games and for how much?

The "always online" rumours were left to fester for months, with negativity towards MS and the Xbox One growing and growing - and that's before they allowed Sony to step on stage at E3 and deliver their hammer blow regarding used games. Sony planned to use
the same sort of DRM scheme for the PS4, but they played a better PR game than MS, allowing MS to go first so they could gauge the reaction, then they did a u-turn in private rather than in public. They also let MS go first on price and undercut them by not
including the camera, which they were going to pack in with every console.

But yeah, if you run a business, you need to have a vision, but you also need to explain it clearly to consumers so they can see why your vision is going to be good for them. MS let negativity fester for so long that the wisest choice was to change the vision,
and therefore the product. You could also argue that even if they'd explained things in a complete and clear way that the public wouldn't have gone for it, but we'll never know.
