@Hairy So we as consumers are now forced to pay more to have instant switching and that is the best option to you? Only a complete fool would see this as a positive in any fashion. Maybe you should make a youtube video of you just burning £££ and link it
to your sig since you have it like that.

General consumers are generally not that bright so I don't know why you think them "winning" that argument is remotely good. Especially since consumers are complaining about having to pay more (nearly twice the price as physical copies in some cases) to
use the console they purchased the way it was intended. I'm truly baffled why you are so anti consumer yet you are a consumer. It literally makes no sense.

    Far Cry 4 Not working?

If it was resolved, it was in the last 30 friggin seconds, because I tried to play the game that I BOUGHT and I OWN and your stupid friggin' system STILL WON'T LET ME PLAY.

You guys at XBL are the ones that wanted all of us to embrace digital-download gaming. The hard-core disc players said we were crazy to go all-digital. But we did embrace it, and as it turns out, we shouldn't have trusted MS; the disc people were right.

FIX THIS OR LET ME DELETE IT AND GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!!!!!!!!!

    Tough to stay all digital

^^ No - didn't he say he paid $6 MORE to download. But I agree with you @Egg - digital should be cheaper but it rarely is, surprised you managed to get a digital game cheaper than disc....it's rarely the case.

MS are indeed making it difficult for us to embrace/love digital - there's just no support or love from Microsoft for digital (yet).

Hey MS, I thought you WANTED us to embrace all digital, but you don't act like it...

The console license is tied to one console only. You can put your hard drive on any other machine and not be able to play unless you have a LIVE connection.

Two licenses. One for your home console to allow offline and other users to play the content and a roaming system.

I'm sorry hairy but as I said if this was a loophole then why have Microsoft not closed it in over 10 years. If it was not what they intended then please explain why they haven't changed it.

Here's the link where Microsoft say how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360.
    news.xbox.com/.../update

So again if this is a loophole, why have they not closed it in 10 plus years, let alone allowed the exact same thing to migrate to their new system.

Regardless of the ability to play a downloaded game on two consoles at once and regardless of the debate of discs versus downloads, Microsoft is simply NOT backing up THEIR desire to have all of us go all-digital.

I am dedicated to being all-digital. I'm that lazy; I never want to get up to change discs,, LOL. If that makes me lose out on the the$10 rebate from the MS Store (the same MS Store that GAVE the $10 to their disc customers), then that's my choice to deal
with it, but I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO deal with it if MS was actually backing up THEIR desire to go all-digital.

Missing out on a pre-order poster, a t-shirt or an action figure I couldn't care less about, but what about pre-order bonus MAPS on FPS's or other in-game content? THAT is a problem. The point is that since the all DRM vision was MS's vision, THEY should
be doing everything in their power to make the transition to DRM a positive one instead of the negative one they have created.

  6. Vote - The passages you are referring to are the disc based options.

Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.

An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any
disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

I will now refer you to the actual passage that confirms that Digital Media cannot be shared. And thanks for the link. As i could not find it.

    In Microsofts official release statement

"These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc.
Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold.
Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.

I firmly rest my case........ It is something that Microsoft do not intend to happen, but so long as it enables more sales, by people sharing the price of a digital game, they will leave the door open to it.

Until they are forced to revise, which by which time it will be to late, and the console has been purchased, and someone is missing out on the games they part pais for.

In other words, Stop banging on about sharing digital media. And enjoy it while it lasts.

What's a shame is that a gang of scared negative cynical internet hate mongers forced MS to water down their vision.

What should have happened is MS announced the vision, got it out to the consumer and then we voted with our wallets. Instead this small gang of *** decided for us all what we would get and what we wouldn't.

    Shame.

Hey MS, I thought you WANTED us to embrace all digital, but you don't act like it...

@Rippen, you raise some very valid points on the digital advantage. I was right on the edge of hitting download for TF, but decided to trade a couple games in (which I don't usually do). I now have nothing to trade so I think my next game will be digital.
Forza was my first DD on X1.

  9. That One Dude, That conversation has been going on for a long time, in fact, since Microsoft announced it.

Your Quote Here - "What's a shame is that a gang of scared negative cynical internet hate mongers forced MS to water down their vision." You even use the term, "Small Gang"

Do you honestly believe that if it was a small gang of hate mongers, that Microsoft would have changed their policies. Microsoft are bigger that that, give them some credit, after all the have weathered a lot of dodgy releases in the past, Including Vista,
Windows 8 and the surface tablet. No it was perhaps one of the biggest consumer backlashes in a console release history.

People did vote with their wallets, and the Xbox One was being out sold, quite aggressively (pre-ordered) because of some of their policies, Now i am not saying game sharing was not a good policy, if it worked like some people believed, But it was too vague,
with one hand not knowing what the other hand was doing. And with serious taken for granted restrictions on what you can and cannot do.

You were there during the heated debates on the issues, the same as i was, so there is no need to go down that route.

But really, Small gang of nInternet Hate mongers.......... it was the consumer that made them change their mind, when have Microsoft ever changed anything, because some internet trolls, didn't like it. Never.

  12. Roc, I assume you read the thread, completely.

We know it happens. Microsoft may have intended it all along as a system seller. But want to make it look like they didn't, who is to know

But no-where have they released a statement to say you are allowed to do it, and that is the issue. According to all the releases of Microsoft, under their TOS, Update page, EULA's from their games, and third party devs/pubs, concerning Xbox One. Digital
Sharing of games is not allowed.

If you use this system, and then they realise that the Pubs want it sorted, I would not expect a ban, I would expect them to issue a statement, and then an update, to remove the feature. Or at least that you cannot play 1 digital game simultaneously.

And just to take your statement " this was intended all along...." - Prove It.

I have provided proof from numerous sources, including MS own pages and TOS, that they are against it.

All i said originally, that people should be a bit more circumspect..

  13. Hey MS, I thought you WANTED us to embrace all digital, but you don't act like it...

Sorry I haven't replied to you Burst, But here goes.

How are you forced to pay more. You are not forced to purchase anything, as you liked to point out, in the numerous Forced Kinect Threads, from before the console was released. You can purchase a game digitally, and have your instant switching, or you can
purchase a game for upto £15 cheaper upon release, and get up and spend 10-20 seconds changing a disc. For me, changing a disc is not an issue, as i have been changing discs/carts/disks/tapes, for more than 30 years. it is the younger generation that this
appeals to. The younger generation, that normally lets companies, walk all over them.

How have i ever been anti-consumer. (I am after all a Union Representive, and have some sort of knowledge, as to when someone is trying to screw me over) Go to the Titanfall thread, concerning the UK release price of digital Titanfall, where consumers are
a bit peeved at the price. £54.99. But you can get the physical copy on Amazon for £37. I said, that is why i never go digital, because after 3-4 games at those prices, i will have enough left over for another full priced game. All for the sake, of being bothered
to get up and change a game over.

And you give consumers less credit than they deserve. Consumers are the make and break of any company. And informed consumers are even more so. Long ago, (That makes me feel old) when gaming was generally considered geekish. I would pay over the top for
games, £80 for Pop 'n' Twinbee, Tales of Phantasia, and many others on Japanesse cartridges for my imported Super Famicon. Because they were not available in the UK.

The console gaming market has changed hugely since then, no longer is it the domain of the select few, No it is main-stream and mass market, and that means the general consumer, family person and their children. Hence prices reflect that. If Microsoft vision
of the market is all digital, then they are going about it the wrong way. As i have stated many many times, to many to care, the general consumer looks after their wallet. I am sure you have price comparison website in the US. (I assume that is where you are
from). People are even more and more comparing prices, and getting what they want for their money, rather than relying on what a company tells them.

Hairy..... you are completely wrong. The internet gaming community, when compared to consumers overall is a SMALL group of people. The consumer never got a chance to vote with their wallet..... MS was forced to alter their vision to try and tame these
gang of hate mongers who were blowing up the internet with bad press.

MS should have been able to present their product based on their original vision to the entire consumer base. This never happened.

  15. Dude. The People did vote with their wallets. That small gaming community as you put it, enabled Microsoft to sell 2 million units in 18 days, and i would expect well over 4 million units now. Because the policies were reversed.

That is not a small amount in anyone's books. If the gaming community is that small. Answer me one question. Why did they reverse the policies? In fact it's the largest console launch for Microsoft ever. So the gaming community is small. I suppose that is
why, from the reveal, they were not aiming at the gaming market, with their TV, TV, TV, TV approach. They were aiming at the multimedia market.

I will state it flatly. (This is not against the Xbox One, as it is a good console). Microsoft's original policies were removing the rights given to us by governments, law makers and people that have fought years to get, to do what we want with physical
media. Also, how can anyone make a games console, and tell us, that if we don't log in, for what-ever reason every 24 hours, The thing we purchased the system to do, will not play games, even disc ones.

Come on. You don't buy anything, and expect it not to do what it was designed to do, just because you cannot sign in. That is madness.

I shudder to think how many Microsoft would have sold, if every single policy was kept in place. Because i would never had purchased one, and neither would have many gamers/consumers. Including most of my friends. As loaning games to each other has been
a staple for many years, just so each of us can try a game out, and buy it, if we want it.

Just answer the question i proposed, give me one valid reason why Microsoft would reverse it's policies, if the gaming community is small compared to the general consumer market.

I have already said, Microsoft are big enough to look after themselves. If they thought the gaming community is as small as you say it is. They would never had reversed any policies, and relied on your vision of the consumer to purchase their console.

What was proven in the end, was that the Xbox One was being out pre-ordered, dramatically by it's rival (no name mentioned). but as soon as the policy was reversed, you saw news of pre-orders going up, and when mandatory Kinect was removed. pre-orders went
    up even more.

The gaming community/ consumer (as they are still consumers) are not as small as you think, for it to impact so dramatically on such a large company.

They knew they had tried to go to far, and everybody, has to love a try-er, but it back fired. It is that simple.
