When will the next gamertag recycle be?

There is no word on if/when another large gamertag release will take place. As of last year, if a person does not sign into their tag for 5 years, it will be released.

There are so many gamertags not being used right now which is stopping a lot of people who actually want to play on a specific gamertag from doing so. All of these accounts are either changed gts, banned or inactive so if anyone knows when they will be refreshed
that would be helpful.

I was looking at one to claim for myself. When I looked up the tag it looks like the person hadn't played anything for a long time. I hope that it will release soon.

Hey there, even if a gamertag is inactive and hasn't been used it will still sit there as if it is taken until Xbox decides to recycle it.

There was a time when we were privy to the recycle schedule, but as people abused it and tried to sell the gamertags on ebay they either stopped recycling them altogether or they just don't tell us when they do it anymore.

So all you can really do it keep checking each week to see if it has been recycled.
