    Hey Cortana Voice Commands

I've been having an issue with the voice commands. Some of them that used to work fine no longer work. I don't know if Microsoft has removed them or if something is wrong with my Kinect.

It works fine when I say "Hey Cortana, show tv guide". If I say a show on the current channels displayed on the guide, it will select it. However, lets say for example I'm in the movie channels section on Starz which is channel 525 on DirecTV. I want to
see what's on channel USA, which is channel 242. If I say "what's on USA", it doesn't do anything. If I say "watch USA", it changes to that channel fine.

When I used to have the OneGuide show DirecTV's guide and said "what's on channel name" it would quickly change to that channel on the guide only and not tune to that channel.

Is the "What's on (channel name)" no longer a command?

    :)

  2. "Xbox Go to Settings" voice command does not work after fresh reboot.

    Hi there, Arthurhahnmiles.

    If you try enabling
    Cortana voice commands
, are you able to bring up the Settings menu using "Hey Cortana, go to Settings"?

I've done the calibration with my Kinect system. I also tried switching to the Xbox Commands and tried the commands(which didn't work) and back to Cortana which still doesn't work when trying to use the "What's On (Channel Name)" command. Most of the other
commands work, but it hears something completely different when I try saying "what's on channel name".

To give you some examples, when I say "What's on NBC", where it shows in the box what's been said, it says "Watch This Channel" and sits there waiting for the next command to be spoken.

When I say "What's on TBS", it acted as if I said "NCIS" and didn't even hear the What's On TBS.

When I say "What's On Fox News", it acts as if I said "242".

I think it's my Kinect system itself. I know here recently it's been turning on and off by itself. Sometimes it'll turn off and won't even come back on and the only way to fix it is a restart on the system. I've tried unplugging the kinect and replugging
it back up. I've tried pulling the power cord from the back of the Xbox One for 10 minutes and keep it off. I've tried holding in the power button on the console for 10 seconds so it does a hard reboot.

I'm lost and what to do. If it's not the kinect system turning off by itself, then it's the voice commands where not all of them are working.

I can easily record a video on my phone showing you what it does and upload it to a private youtube video if you want. I'd love to figure this out.

  7. Hi kailef,

Thank you for that additional information. It sounds like there may be something else going on with the Kinect itself. Is it possible to test Cortana and the Xbox commands using a headset by chance?

    Hey Cortana Voice Commands

The headset did not fix the problem. It's still having the same issues. Sorry, it took me awhile to find my Xbox headset that came with my console. The headset I know is fine too, because I only used it once since purchasing the Xbox One. It still won't
respond correctly when trying to say "what's on so and so channel" like "what's on usa". When the oneguide is displaying the tv guide for my Directv system, it'll respond to most of the commands, but not the "what's on channel name" command.

Even today, the cortana system locked up where it displayed that message where you can say "show labels" or "stop listening". It wouldn't go away. I even went into settings to go to the "cortana" setting and it locked up my console. I don't know if it has
something to do with the software version or what, but something is going on.

    Hey Cortana Voice Commands

    Hi ,

Thank you for reaching out on this, have you had a chance to work through
calibrating the microphone for the Kinect
yet? Also, let's try changing to the

Xbox commands then switching back to the Cortana
    commands as well.

Let us know if that helps, thank you!
