Hexic HD crashing and glitching out screen a few minutes into play

Hexic HD has always been a favorite of mine.

This issue was not present last weekend when I played it for an extended length of time, and as far as I can remember, it was not an issue four days ago (Wednesday).

I have tried adjusting the position of the Xbox 360, making sure it was unobstructed, etc.

I have tried removing the hard drive, but since Hexic HD is a downloaded game saved to the hard drive, I can't really tell if that's the issue or not.

I tried playing Marble Blast Ultra, a similarly downloaded game saved to the hard drive. Marble Blast Ultra does not appear to suffer from this issue.

I tried deleting Hexic HD from the console and redownloading it from the marketplace. The visual glitch associated was more severe after testing, but the problem remained.

Before deleting Hexic HD and redownloading, the crash was accompanied by a sudden cessation of all sound effects, and a number of "bar-code-like" patterns of glitched pixels appearing in diagonal strips across the screen. To visualize the layout of the glitch,

This is an example. The actual glitched screen had many more iterations of similar patterns across it. These glitched blocks would occasionally flicker into the screen as it was supposed to be, but always flicker back immediately, the system remaining frozen
the whole time.

AFTER deleting and redownloading the game, the crash was instead accompanied by a total screen blackout, with a mash of glitched pixels occupying the top 1/8th of the screen or so, and a harsh static noise right before the sound cut out.

I have also ensured that the Xbox 360's storage space is not full.

If it helps any, we're having some nasty humidity in the area. Not sure if it's relevant.

Help would be appreciated.

Uh, bump. Any ideas, or do I need to have it serviced or something? Anyone else having this issue at all? Is it a new glitch introduced in a recent system update, or is it a hardware failure, or is something else weird going on? I got nothin'.

 

Noedit: Hardware failure, three red rings of death. It's an original 360 so they refuse to do out-of-warranty repairs.
