How do cord cutters watch sports channels? Just wondering since the ESPN app doesn't work like I thought it would.

Any word or rumors or anything on this app? Finally sold my 360 so starting to get worried about missing the upcoming PPV events (cord cutters/ no cable or satellite)

    Thank you and take care,

    That is pretty cool.

I have to say I am shocked that a TV tuner was released before an actual Xbox One Wireless Blu Tooth Headset.

  6. I've really been thinking about doing this for awhile, but I'm not sure if it's possible in my situation.

Looks like this might be the thread to ask.

So, I have a splitter setup.

Basically, the HDMI out from cable box > input to splitter.

HDMI out (#1) from splitter > X1 TV in. - X1 TV out > TV HDMI (#1) in.

HDMI out (#2) from splitter > TV HDMI (#2) in.

I have it set up this way for my wife, since she knows nothing about the Xbox and doesn't want to mess with it. All she has to do is hit the master on with the cable remote and the on switch for the splitter with its remote. I already make sure the TV is
set to the proper HDMI in for her.

All I have to do when I want to use the Xbox is turn it on and switch inputs on the TV.

If I wanted to cut the cord, I'd definitely want to have a Roku or something like that, in addition to the antenna... but I don't think that's doable with a splitter setup? Or is it? Thoughts? Sorry if that seems confusing. >.<

I've got every TV in my house set-up with a different combination of devices so there is normally a solution but I'm confused to why you're using a splitter. How many HDMI ports does your TV have?

It appears your looking at doing a One, Roku (or Fire, Chrome, etc) and an antenna. Most TV's have at least 3 HDMI ports so I'd go HDMI 1 - One, HDMI 2 - Roku and then hook the antenna up to the TV and use the TV's tuner (which gives you cheaper options
    than the linked antenna).

    @Blue,

It actually depends on the cable box outputs.

If your cable box only has the 1 HDMII, then I could see a splitter being used.

I put my wife on the component inputs(Verizon Fios box has 1 HDMI 1 and 1 Component) because she refuses to use the Xbox One. Her loss Here You Go Cord Cutters ;)

My cut the cord plan is to get the local channels, get HBO go (Game of Thrones) and HULU+ or another cable offering like Netflix or similar app.

This is going to save everyone tons of money in the long run.

I'm sick of paying for stuff I'm not even using.

I will miss the sports packages but I can always watch on the PC or local sports bar.

I hope you're able to cut the cord as well.

If someone in your households aren't using the Xbox to view TV and your having to setup a secondary viewing option why doesn't everyone use it?

Every step between source and viewing device you'll get some degree of degradation (how noticeable it is will depend on your TV). A powered antenna pulls an uncompressed signal so you'd want that going directly to your TV for the best picture and depending
on your location that should be the best picture you'll get for those channels with any device.

An antenna and a Roku would probably be your best bet for overall content and picture quality if your going to ditch the cable box.

    To summarize,

My wife would lose DVR capability (but that feature is coming soon to Xbox One) via the cable box.

But she would be able to see her Bravo crap (crap is even being nice) on a secondary option with an Xbox App.

Adapt or die is how I see it.

She'll appreciate the money we save and put it toward buying some shoes. (Goth can attest to that Here You Go Cord Cutters ;))

My current cable bill is $175/month for cable (HBO/Shotime/Sports and almost every channel available). Internet (75mbs up and down) and a land line no one ever uses).

    Can't wait to do this!

Would this allow me to continue using my cable subscription (no box, straight wall to tv) through my XB1?

    @Badseed

This is giving you the ability to view some of your channels without a cable subscription. If you go the antenna route the goal is to be able to get rid of cable all together.

Antenna and Hulu will probably get the vast majority of the programming, throw in a Roku and it's billion apps for every genre of TV and movies and you save a huge amount of money over cable with more options.

I understand but I'm tied to the cable subscription through my apartment and wanted to use the benefits of TV through the XB1 and remove a step of switching inputs. The Xbox says antenna or cable and the support page shows the option of connecting tuner
directly to the wall. When I do this, however, I cannot find any channels.

Any help achieving this would be greatly appreciated.

If all you're trying to do is use the One Guide on the Xbox with your current cable box then it's as simple as plugging the cable boxes HDMI cable that is currently plugged into the TV into the Xbox.

Do you not have a cable box and currently have a coaxial cable from wall to TV? If so are you just getting basic channels with no option of HBO, etc?
