HELP!!! Xbox Live crashing my HDD

Same problem that has been reported before. Every Xbox Live game download immediately crashes my Xbox when it moves from pending to active download. I then have to pull out the HDD and wait for the download to appear in the download queue. (it wont start
because there isn't enough storage without the HDD). I then cancel the download and reinsert my HDD and delete the corrupted file from the storage. Because I canceled the download the HDD doesn't crash and behaves normally until I try another download.

Interestingly, automatic system downloads and game updates download without issue.

This has stopped me from purchasing games as I can't rely on the download completing. I'm not sure I can continue to justify having a Gold account with this issue.

    :)

  4. HELP!!! Xbox Live crashing my HDD

Sounds more like your hard drive is faulty to me. Did this hard drive come with the system or did you purchase it separately? Have you tried using your console with a suitably sized USB Flash drive instead of the hard drive?

If you can get hold one of one, try a USB Flash drive. SanDisk are the most reliable on the Xbox 360. If your console does not have any issues using a Flash drive, it is safe to say your hard drive has a hardware fault and you will need to purchase another
    unfortunately.

May I also suggest that you do not remove or re-insert the hard drive while the console is on. The Xbox 360 hard drive is not 'hot swappable' and should not be removed or inserted while the console is in operation. Doing so will damage the hard drive.
