Help with Xbox One S Soundbar Control

I bought an Xbox One S today. I have a Samsung soundbar, model HW-D550/ZA. I am having problems getting the One S's IR blast to send the right signal to control volume and power to my soundbar. Signals sent to the TV work perfectly so I know the IR blast
works. I know my soundbar works because it accepts volume control from its own remote as well as through the SmartGlass app. Additionally, I had an original Xbox One that worked with my soundbar via Kinnect's IR blast.

When I enter my model number in device control it think shows up, but the Xbox does not send the right signal. Any suggestions on how to get this to work with the One S? Should I enter a remote code directly? And if so, where do I find that?

Xbox one s not sincing with soundbar properly (old xbox one is fine)

I just purchased an xbox one s and during the setup in device control under tv&one guide I program in my soundbar (Samsung HW-F450) so that it turns on and off automatically with the xbox, However it doesn't seem to program properly. Under device power options
I have it set to "Toggle" for both when the xbox turns on or off. This does nothing when you turn the xbox on or off except it turns the soundbar off if it is already on when you turn the xbox on (Soundbar does not turn on when xbox is turned on).

I have tried programing in the soundbar both by typing in the model number and by the guided setup (in the guided setup xbox sends mute command to soundbar, the soundbar picks it up and I confirm)

I then reprogrammed in the soundbar into my original xbox one just to check if it works and it functioned just fine (turned on and off with xbox).

I can see that the IR port on the xbox one s (if I look through my camera at it) IS trying to send a command (blinks red) when I turn my xbox one s on and off, however it doesn't effect the soundbar (only shuts it off if its on already when you turn on the
xbox).

I do have my Samsung tv programmed in to turn on and off with the xbox one s and that works fine.

My guess is possibly the One s has the incorrect remote codes programmed in for this particular soundbar (maybe others), or is my One s defective

 

Can I connect Xbox one direct to soundbar via optical cable?

Sorry to hear that you haven't been able to set up control for your soundbar. I don't think an IR extension cable or a separate IR blaster would help
unless the Kinect IR signals cannot reach the soundbar for some reason, i.e., the soundbar is in a media cabinet or somehow blocked from view. If that isn't the issue, then it really comes down to the Xbox One having the proper control codes
so that it can communicate with the soundbar.

Hello CiZI. Yes I used the code 2660 and have confirmed this is the right code with Samsung. My audio receiver works fine because it accepts signals from its own remote and the SmartGlass app. Once again, the IR controls worked perfectly with the Kinect
on my original Xbox One so I am 100% positive the problem isn't my audio receiver.

Cortana can control the volume, but the mute and power commands do not work. I'm thinking this is a Xbox One S software problem of not sending the signals. Is there a difference between the IR blast on the One S and the IR blast on the Kinect? When I look
at the IR emitter on the One S it only blinks once when giving a command. I believe the Kinect gave out three blinks.

To further troubleshoot, I bought the official Xbox One IR extender. For whatever reason the Xbox One S is not sending a signal through the IR extender. The IR extended doesn't blink or show any signs of sending an infrared signal when plugged into the Xbox
One S jack.

I have tested all my troubleshooting on two different Xbox One S consoles. This is why I believe this is a software problem with the One S as opposed to a hardware one. I was part of the Preview program with my original Xbox One and after an update my Xbox
behaved in a similar way. A new update was soon after released and the problem was fixed.

Please let me know what you suggest to try next.

 

Hey Thundercleetz! Are you able to use the Kinect with your One S using a
Kinect adapter? Additionally, because the original Xbox One is in the Preview program, you may want to enroll your One S in it as well to ensure it has the same updates. Thanks!

Not interested in the Preview Program - too many updates. I no longer have my Kinect unit. Figured I would not need it since the Xbox One S has IR capabilities. Regardless, it appears the Xbox One S has some sort of software problem since it's IR is not
functioning properly nor is it sending out an IR signal via the emitter port in the back.

It's fine though, I rerouted my Xbox One S, TV and audio receiver to function via HDMI ARC and CEC. It works very well, just doesn't turn on my audio receiver on when I turn the Xbox on (which is not possible from my understanding of CEC). CEC controls everything
else perfectly though, so I am OK with this tradeoff given IR doesn't work.
