Help with microsoft xbox live account age restrictions.

hey guys, I'm posting today due to an issue that has been pissing me off for quite some time here and I would really appreciate some help. before I get started, I've already spent hours scouring the forums looking for an answer. To my dismay, there
was none to be found.

my story starts out why I first got my xbox live console. Well, I got it for my son. when I went to create an account for him, I set his account in a family plan. Me bring the ""adult" (moderator) account. When I created his as the "child" (not moderator)
account I figured it would be the best for a growing child. I don't use my account at all except to be a moderator for his. My son is now very mature and I had agreed with him to remove any kind of restrictive settings, account privacy issues, ect. he then
told me he was still having issues, so I removed him from our "family." He now cannot sigh in to xbox live. This post is not about how to change family settings, as I am not a moron and can follow microsofts instructions fairly simply. My question is this:

how do I promote his account to an "adult" or "admin" a account? He is mature and I my mind deserving of all the features xbox live has to offer. No to mention, as I pay for the xbox live account, I use his instead of mine to play games. I too get
frustrated with the content blocks in certain games due to the account not meeting these standards. all xbox live purchases have been made with his account and all game progress and stats are linked to his account therefore being more or less "our" account.
all I need to do is to be able to give his account full access, like mine. If I need to change the gamer tag, or merge accounts, or even cross over data, I am willing to do any of this. I just need this account to not be in a restrictive state seeing as I
am paying for all of the features and not getting them. I pay for the internet, the modem, the router, the tv it plays on, the games, the xbox, and most importantly the xbox live account. I deserve these features and need a way to change these settings. Thank

Daughter's account restricted , error 914

My daughter is trying to play on her Roblox account on the Xbox One, but it keeps saying it cannot link the accounts because of a restriction

i had a similar problem with restrictions for Minecraft too, neither of which are out of her age range anyway so no restrictions should be added.. either way, her account has no restrictions, its set up the same as mine.. so what is error 914 and why is a child
friendly game being restricted from my daughter???

can someone help as there's currently no xbox help available

I'm sorry but official support cannot help you circumvent age-restrictions set up on your account.

Until his account turns 18 you cannot remove parental restrictions this has to do with international laws

Once it turns 18 you can goto account management and promote child account

Changing the age nor does changing the Windows live I'd won't work you will have to wait till it turns 18

Thank you so much for the response. If that is the case then why was I able to download DESTROY ALL HUMANS, with it also having an age restriction of +16? Also how do I check my age restrictions? My Microsoft account also shows that my age is well over 16 years, unless my Microsoft account is separate from my Xbox account

Yes, I figured it out. For whatever reason, there was an age restriction on my Xbox account, probably for my little brother. Anyway, removing the age restriction and trying again worked for me. Try checking if you have any restrictions at all on your account
(Xbox or Microsoft) and remove them. This should work for you too.

Hello Brian,

Sorry for the issue with the date of birth. Unfortunately there is no way to change the date of birth on a child account once it is made. There is an exception if the child account was made in error and the person is 18 or older can send in age verification
to fix.

If the account was just made he will need to be added to a family with a parent account. Then the family can change the settings as Italian has mentioned.
