    Help with latency


    Hi all,

    First, thanks in advance for reading this, and secondly, sorry if it's in the wrong section Help with latency :)

    Anyway.

    The other half has been having lag issues with FIFA. It started on FIFA 14 (Xbox 360), then he bought an Xbox One & it was still lagging. Tried allsorts to help. So, FIFA 15 has arrived & the same problem is happening. It doesn't lose connection, but apparently
    has horrific lag. I am tired of telling him that it is more then likely the game, as we have tried allsorts of troubleshooting issues. Also, multiplayer on CoD works fine, as does other online games.

    So. We contacted EA who said to perform a couple of UO Traces. Did this & they said something about the ping being high (?) and that we needed to contact our ISP to ask for a static IP address. Did this, no joy - our ISP said that they only provide static
    IPs to business customers, and that if we changed the channel in the router settings (which I believe is only for when a wireless connection is "dropping out" - his connection is wired anyway), and disabled the UnP (I think), then everything would work just
    fine. Well, it doesn't.

    So, I am hoping that one of you lovely, helpful people might be able to point me in the right direction (or guide me hand-by-hand through some troubleshooting steps, lol); I am sick of hearing about our "horrendous"internet connection every minute of every
    day. EA are palming him off with allsorts of suggestion like port-forwarding (which I don't have a clue how to do), just to stop him ringing them up Help with latency ;)

    Please help - I have had to listen to this for the past 2 years. He is useless with internet/computers, so it is left to me (who has a little bit of a idea) to sort out.

    I have Lag in many games. FIFA 13 is unplayable but I think this is EA´s fault. I never buy a game from EA again. Games like call of duty has built in lag compensation which is very bad implemented there are many videos about it. And even Gears of war 3
    should run on Servers and the connection is bad. The Problem here is that there are no Servers in Germany. If my british friends join me they ask if I´m sure tht we also play on Servers.....

    I don´t know if xbox live is the Problem. Many Problems are on the games.

    and that´s why the ping times increase. Why do we have to go overseas? Is matchmaking not affected? If my Incoming ping on US Server is 187 ms?

    how does one get service or talk to a human regarding xbox. Tried all available online options and get nowhere.

    Wired connection on xbox 1 high latency in 90's. new modem DLspeeds 500mb. When playin on cloud on a mac same wired connection latency is 15-20. Xbox one is specifically were the latency is occurring. need help.

    Thanks BlackTOOTHEgrin! I've read all your post's, but the term "Passthrough" could also be used to describe how both of your gateway's are connected to one or the other that is why i wanted you to confirm this as bridge mode or not.

    can you confirm it is set in bridge mode? Since you also have a second router (Netgear WNR2000v3, which is not a modem) connected to your local network it is important that the Motorola is set in bridge mode. Multiple levels of NAT is something that the Xbox
    often rejects.

    Hello BLACKTOOTHEgrin! Latency can vary greatly at any given time of day.Please keep that in mind. You might try running the tracert command at different times of the day to see how much it varies. May I suggest that you try some steps listed here

    support.xbox.com/.../performance    . I may also suggest that you contact you IP as it appears that hopp 12 is high,which is not on your local network. You may even want to send this info to there support in an email so they can see what you are seeing.
