Help with connecting my Xbox One to Virgin Box

Hello everyone.

I really want to set my Xbox One up so that i can watch TV on it, however the Virgin Box is downstairs, whilst the Xbox One is upstairs.

I really don't have the foggiest clue on how to set it up, but i'm assuming wires are needed. Is this correct?

If not, can you please explain how it's done? Thank you in advance.

cant watch tv when xbox one is switched off

ive set up my virgin media box on my xbox one to watch live tv using a hdmi cable

when I switch off my xbox I cant watch my live tv from virgin media, can any1 help

UK tv issues through Xbox one

When connecting a sky / virgin tv box to hdmi in and when xbox one plays, its un watchable as its jittery. This is because the uk sends 50hz signal and xbox outputs 60hz. Please fix this issue.

You need to plug your virgin box directly into the xbox via the hdmi cable (slot at back of console near the one you use to connect your xbox to the tv), your xbox one goes to the tv via hdmi as normal, then you just select tv from the xbox's home screen
and your away.

You'll need an extremely long HDMI cable to run through the house.... you're talking anywhere between £50-£200 depending on quality and length.

Also even if you did have the Virgin medai box connected to the Xbox One with a really long HDMI cable, you wouldnt be able to "Xbox On" or "Xbox watch dave" because the two boxes are in different rooms.

You really need to move either the Virgin media box next to your Xbox or vice versa to get the best out of the whole "TV through your console" experiance.

Does it use the IR blaster to change the channels? Or is it done via HDMI control?

If it's HDMI control it'd be fine.

No the Kinect is the IR blaster, its not done over HDMI

I have new tivo box installed on main tv downstairs.

Cheap I know but is it possible

Do you use the old box upstairs already (do you have a virgin cable upstairs to receive the virgin tv service?)

also dose the old virgin box have a HDMI output

If you answer yes to both these then yes you can.

Just plug the old box into your xbox 1 via the hdmi and away you go

Hi there.

As far as I am aware, if you have routed your Virgin Media box through your Xbox One to make use of the ability to watch TV via your Xbox, your Xbox has to be turned on to work this as the signal is going from your Virgin Media box, to your Xbox, to your
TV - so basically your Xbox is acting as a bridge between your Virgin Media box and the TV.

If you want to use your Virgin Media box, and your Xbox is turned off, that breaks the chain so it won't work - you'll have to instead forget your Xbox and just route your Virgin Media box straight into your TV as it would have been connected before Xbox
One.

I'm sure anyone will correct me if I'm wrong in saying this.

I have mine connected via the Xbox in the same way for my Sky box and the Xbox has to be on for me to watch it.

yep tv has 2 scart connectors correct,there is an hdmi cable from virgin box connected to tv,1 scart from virgin connected to surround sound system,the other scart from virgin box also connected to the tv.there is only 1 hdmi lead that connects the xbox
