Help troubleshooting xbox live speeds with TWC ISP

Hi All,

Need some help trobleshooting my xbox live connection speeds on why speeds are low on my xbox vs what i pay for and what speed test shows me on my pc

I have Time Warner (200 Mbps package) live in San Antonio Texas

Have time Warner router/modem combo that was provided to me (**** DG1670A)

when testing on speedtest.net (using sever in Seattle WA location of me is in San Antonio Texas)

Download = 212.46 Mbps

Upload = 16.33 Mbps

ping = 85

On xbox when i test i do see my speeds vary alot but my latest speeds are:

Download = 2.72 Mbps

Upload = 4.03 Mbps

Latency = 134 ms

When testing i see my latency is high *** 700 ms at times

I tried port fowarding for my xbox and individaul ports that certain games uses, restarting router, and restarting xbox.

Did a Trace to xbox.com but not very tech savvy so would like so ideas on what i can do now to resolve issue

Depending on your area different ISP will be better. For instance, where I live TWC has unbeatable speeds and service (this is first time i have encountered such an issue). Before I switched to TWC i had AT&T, and with the best service the provided i could
only manage a 3mbs download speed (im at 30mbs counstanly with TWC)....All just depends

But as was stated there is an issue with TWC. Just wait it out and remember you are not alone.

 

WTF!, Is with XBOX LIVE!!!

If you're using TWC then it should be up and running. I have TWC and it has always worked. There are some regional ISP difficulties with XBOX Live for some TWC users as well.

If you're using a different ISP, please address the issue to them, and because XBOX Live is up & running, there is not much to do on Microsoft's end but to acknowledge the issue and do as you should do by contacting your provider.

An app called 'fing' may solve the problem.

Download Fing, then turn on your Xbox.

Run a ping on your xbox, and then tell me the results.

How are you connected to Xbox Live? Are you using a wired or wireless connection? Are you seeing any Packet Loss when you check on the Xbox One console? Since the Xbox One and PC are two separate devices, the speed might vary based on the type of connection.

Please take a look at this guide for some more help with troubleshooting slow speeds.

I am experiencing slow performance when playing Xbox One games on Xbox Live.

Let me read the guide again. i remember seeing this guide when doing a google search before so let me reread and go through its steps and will post back. Once again thanks guys

 

Read the guide again with no luck. Schedule a tech to come out to my house Saturday but im afraid they going to day everything looks good because the speed test on cpu looks like im getting speeds im paying for just not on my xbox

 

I think your Arris Gateway is the bad guy here , some Arris and a few others don't seem to fully connect with xbox one....for some reason.... have the tech test you with a plain modem (no gateway ) and hook the xbox straight into it and test that way....

 

You need to complain to time warner cable about this. I am in san antonio also and I have had the same issue for months and I have had to have 4 tech visits and the supervisor came by and ran ping plotter on my connection which identified the problem on
their end several days later. There are bad nodes in the connection route which they told me back around June 17th would take several weeks to fix, but I am skeptical despite them having an ongoing maintenance ticket. Please inform time warner cable of your
issues and inform them others such as myself are having identical issues which have not been resolved in quite some time. They need to fix this with their engineering teams.

 

im curious what is the ticket number so i can reference dagger? had to reschdule tech for this saturday due to issues with family... yeah another week of lagging lol....bimnog will do copy that. i was going to buy my own moden with a seperate router but
wasnt sure which one is worth the money. any tips? it sucks because it has to be a twc approved device as well

 

Hi All,

Just an update for when i met with the tech last Saturday he mention that the node I'm living in (53) is under going maintenance and thats the reason for my latency issue. TWC is aware and trying to address the issue. The date he gave me unofficially is
end of September. Unfortunately for me this is only providing in my area unless i want satellite internet (lol just kidding wouldnt work with my usage and expectations) so I'm stuck with the problem until its resolved. Probably going to call and ask TWC if
they can prorate my bill because if im paying money to get 200 download and 20 upload its sucks when its not reliable. Will update everyone at end of sept on what i here from twc when i call them for status update.
