Ok, so what happens is google and other search engines crawl this site. People search a topic or find a forum post. When you post your first post in any forum you don't always know how the forum works, where things are located etc etc. So maybe cut a
little slack to these people. It's pretty easy to tell a necromancer when you see one. Things like higher CUL, several old posts bumped to the top of the forum for the purpose of causing people to complain, continuing to do it after they've been called
out, posting things like "someone stop me" and so on.

 

Some people Google results and Google may direct them to a thread on this site. They may not post a lot on here and decide to contribute. Then you get forum veterans who complain. XBL message them. DON'T this "private message" thingy them. I didn't really
use this forum until Xbox 1 came out. The following year later or so I realized this private message thing section. This is the only forum site I participate on, and am not really on here everyday. But you may get some who deliberately do it.

 

All you need to do is report the post for bumping an old thread via the moderate bit on the bottom right of the post.

No need to pm them or send a message over live.

If you want to tell them what to do, send an Xbox Live Message. Otherwise they'll never know they made a booboo. Don't send them private messages because they may not know how to check them (like me until last year or the year before that). I use to think
Private Message was Xbox Live Message or it could be a message sent to your email address associated with your account. It could mean a lot of things actually. It could be worse, they could be bumping threads from 2011. Remember younger peps participate on
here too especially in other sections. If the forums are getting you down, take a break. It could be a misunderstanding not everyone knows to check the date of the post especially when google results lead them to here, or it could have been done deliberately.
Still got to allow for at least some fun and leniency on here. "Avoid the negative" and "Promote the positive". Even I don't know all the forum rules word for word, I just go with my conscience. I doubt everyone reads the toc and coc in it's entirety.

 

I remembered when I bumped 5 Minecraft threads to the front page of this xbox 1 general discussion thread. They were all less than 4 months old. I had a lol.

 

So you have the opportunity to make an impression on someone and possibility to retain a new forum member, and you want to give them the worse possible response, to ignore them, eek.

The thing I hate is doing what you suggest so, I guess I will do what I do.

 

Like some people have said sometimes people seeking an answer happen upon an old thread and end up bumping it.

Those people usually get help rather than grief.

Other times it's being done just to be a nuisance.

It's pretty easy to tell but if you're not sure then like Badger says report the thread.

 

I think this site can do with every discussion possible, old or new. Some day's it's so dead on here it's just sad.

 

If I am not sure I will try and point them in the right direct (if i feel like it), if they are a nuisance its not up to me to deal with, thats for the mods to work out.

hmm I also don't like (don't like the word hate) posts telling me how to use a forum that don't have the authority to do so, guess I won't become one of them either.....

Blue, I've set a notification for myself. So this time in 3 years I'll get a notification saying "Bump"...... Then I'll probably sit scratching my head for a few hours wondering what the hell it means.
