    So i plugged the satellite HDMI cable by mistake and it changed my preferences and wont take me to the home screen, i tried to call and spoke to customer service who said i have to reformat / factory reset my xbox one but all my games are saved on the hard
    drive......There has to be a way to change the start up preferences so i can use my xbox with out reformatting it.

    Help getting xbox one to show back up on Vizio tv

    If you want to use your xbox to control your tv, then you want to plug your cable box or satellite into the hdmi in port on the xbox one. then you connect the hdmi out port of the xbox one to the hdmi in port on your tv(however to watch tv your xbox one
    has to be on for the signal to pass through). I personally do not use the tv function of my xbox one,because I don't want to have to have my xbox on to watch tv. I have my cable box plugged into the hdmi in port of my tv, and my xbox one plugged into another
    hdmi in port. Then when I want to play I just switch the input on my tv.

    Connecting via HDMI & Optical cable question

    Is it possible to run an optical cable and a hdmi cable from my xbox one to my receiver without causing any conflicts?

    I assume, to use the Optical Cable, I would go into sound preferences, and choose optical connection, which would eliminate the HDMI from doing audio, and only video?



    Basically, with the game Rocksmith 2014, they recommend running HDMI from TV to my Xbox One, and using Optical for audio to my receiver. As this wont work, because I have an apple tv plugged into the receiver, and having my tv plugged into my xbox
    one, opposed to how I currently have it, connected to receiver, won't work.

    Now I have another issue. For some reason every time I try to watch tv thru the xbox one I see nothing but a still picture. If I unplug the HDMI from the satellite receiver and plug it back in the picture updates to whatever was live at the time, but it
    remains still. I can plug the receiver directly into my TV and it works fine.

    How do you have it hooked up? I have my hooked up as the following

    TV/Satellite Receiver HDMI Out > Xbox One Satellite In

    Xbox One HDMI Out > Receiver HDMI Port

    Receiver Out > TV

    Does your receiver support HDMI sound, not just video?

    removing oneguide from xbox

    I doubt the One guide will be removed from the Xbox One due to the HDMI in port which lets you plug in a Cable TV or Satellite TV box into your Xbox, so you can watch TV on your console. or use the Xbox official TV USB stick.

    Hello, I do not understand why, when I plug my HDMI cable into In, I have no picture...
    The HDMI In port on the console is for external cable or satellite set-top boxes, so you can loop the TV signal from these set top boxes through the Xbox One, which will then output it's own video feed to the HDMI OUT port of the console.

    You will have to connect the TV to the console's HDMI OUT port, and if you want to be able to instantly switch between TV and video games, you can attach a TV source like a cable or satellite receiver to the HDMI In port. When you then launch the TV App
    or OneGuide, you can then watch TV through the Xbox One, and instantly switch to your games if you want.
