Help Please

Switched on my X1 today after a few days away and it has totally locked up, without signing me in, i have rebooted it several times but that is not reseting the machine, can anyone help please, the controller can be used to switch the machine on, but once
it is on none of the controllers buttons do anything.

I have just set up my xbox one and the sound doesn't sound right. I have it on a 5.1 dolby system it's really odd on call of duty advanced warfare the centre speaker works during cinematic scenes but has no volume during game play it sounds ok and the gun and voice effects come mainly from the front two speakers but that can't be right????

Has anyone else got call of duty set up on 5.1 dolby system?

i dont have cod..

first i would go into settings and controller and update it.. (idk why) but somewhere along the line an update for headsets had something with dolby 5.1 in it.

i dont have cod so i cant say how my 5.1 sound bar works but the way i recall it is.. the developer sets the standard or output channels.. this is why forza worked next to polk audio to "dial in sound" its not really a microsoft thing as much as cod development.

i would check settings on xb1 to see if it is in dolby 5.1 or stereo
i would also check the settings in game to seewhat they are.

depending on your sound bar check and see i fit has a setting for analog or coax it may also have different modes.. game,movie,stereo,cinamatic each one does alter how sound is projected

 

Think i have sorted it now, i pulled the mains lead, and then tried again, and it has booted first time, anyone else had this or know why it did that ?

 

When you say it's not resetting, do you mean it's not turning off after holding power button ( while console is on ) on front of console for about 10 seconds? if no then I would take out the power lead from back of console and leave it for about 5 minutes
before plugging back in and trying again.

 

Ooopps, sorry see you sorted it while I was typing my message.

My daughters console has done this twice, once turned on it just sat on screen doing nothing, controller didn't work etc, leaving unplugged for 5 minutes has solved it though, not sure why it happens but not just you.

 

@Lofty, yes, until i had pulled the mains lead, pressing and holding the controllers xbox button only switched off the the pad itself not the X1, pressing the xbox button on the X1 did switch off the console, im just a little concerened that this happened,
and wondering if the console is on the way out, or is there another reason for this ?

 

Again mate, not sure why it happens or even if it was because of the same reason why it happened to my daughters console ( twice now ) but last time it happened was a good month or so back and her console is still working today.

My guess is it's just one of the many "wobbles" consoles have from time to time.

on reddit, I have read, it has happened a few times.. we all have to remember, these are not consoles.... but PCs... and as such, will act like one at times and need to be treated s one... your XB1 most likely just got hung up on something... like a pc..
a full power down will do the trick

 

@tohellnbak Totally right. The Xbox One is running Windows 8. It's a PC.

 

I've actually had this multiple times. Complet lockup of the system. Another favourite is the controller lockup. It won't do anything until I pull the battery pack and reinsert it. If I had $1 for ever time I've had to hard reset my X1 I could probably buy
another one by now. Still works fine though. And people say PCs are trouble. My pc is a dream compared to this thing at times. Still love it though!
