Help needed regarding two xbox ones, a virgin media superhub 2 and the purchase of a decent ...

Me and my partner moved house yesterday and had virgin media installed (superhub 2) when we came to set up our xbox ones we found one was open NAT and the other strict, so I did a internet search to find its a common issue, and that the way most people have
gotten round it is to use the superhub 2 in modem only mode and attach a router.

We have a dedicated computer room so both connections will be wired - could we have some advice as to which router I should rush out and buy so that we can both play GTA V tonight?

So far I've looked at this one

Netgear DGND3700 Dual Band N600 Wireless ADSL Router
But the question is would this do the job? Or are there people out there that have found a way round this issue maybe without buying a new router, or that could recommend a better/cheaper one?

Strict NAT and "Can't get a Teredo IP address" error

With my router which is a virgin media superhub 2 there is no option to enable or disable ipv6

 

Best Router For Xbox One?

Had a Netgear Router and had no lag, Upgraded to Superhub 2 and get a bit of lag. I have always and will always use wireless connection on my Xbox, Been with Xbox for a very very long time and love it. Please someone tell me a good router to purchase as
Virgin Media doesn't supply them. Router has to be dual band and have a decent range that will definitely stop the little lag patches. I don't mind spending a decent amount of money as long as it will stop the lag as I am a serious gamer. Just please someone
tell me a router that I can purchase that will have no lag, I am aware of the compatibility issues with the Superhub 2 and Xbox One. I would really appreciate suggestions as Titanfall is out soon and I don't want to play laggy Titanfall. Thanks Microsoft and

Just assign static IP's to both (you will need the mac address wrote down) then shove them both in the DMZ section. Hard reset and it should work (remember ti unlplug, wait 5 seconds and plugin, waiting for the light on the power to go from orange to white
and back to orange again) this clears the cache. (thats the xbox by the way not the router )

 

That Netgear router is an adsl one. You need a cable router for Virgin.

 

Modem mode slows your connection too, so if your paying for the 100+ mb package, you wont get it.

Best bet is to DMZ the 2 boxes

 

cheers for all your comments and advice, i tried to put my xbox one in the DMZ but it didn't seem to change anything? Can somebody talk me through it please? its late i'm tired and i want to be able to play gta tomorrow lol

 

Unless its a fluke and changes before the morning i THINK ive sorted it - placed my xbox one in the DMZ n reset the cache on the one as you suggested...... didnt add my partners one to the DMZ just left that as it was. When i restarted mine i checked the
network settings and it was open, so cautiously started up my partners one and hey presto!! thats showing open too - happy days!!

 

Iv had this same problem and nothing helped its the super hub 2. what i did was buy a netgear NightHawk router and put the super hub 2 into modem mode. I have 2 xbox ones and 2 360's and i have a open NAT for all at the same time, only downside is the NightHawk
is £160

 

Last nights elation didn't last long lol turned on this morning and back to square one, one open and one strict...... I'd be interested to know how I managed to fluke them both being open as I could try to do it again lol - Thanks for the info Gh0stz, I've
seen the nighthawk mentioned in other forums as a fix, but doesnt switching the superhub2 to modem mode reduce the speed you are able to get? Guess I was just hoping for a cheaper easier fix as we have just moved and i don't really fancy shelling out £160
- but if thats what it takes then its going to have to be done lol......This may sound really daft but is there not a way to replace the superhub with a different cable hub rather than switching it to modem mode and having a router??

 

Try one xbox wired and the other xbox wireless and see if you get open Nat on them both.

 

I'll try that thankyou - although aren't there issues with the superhub 2 and xbox ones wireless and instant on mode? Thats the only reason I haven't tried it already - but hey ho nothing to loose!

 

Okay so we must have tried everything now with no success, so tomorrow were going to buy the night hawk router - but I just have a couple of questions before I splash the cash.......so if somebody who has 2 ones and a nighthawk router on a virgin superhub
2 (n7 gh0stz looking at you dude lol) could just tell me......

1. Will the router work out of the box on wired connections or will I have to muck about with port forwarding etc?

2. Its been mentioned that the speeds will be reduced, but by how much? (we have 152mb apparently lol) so I dont mind loosing a bit, what kind of speeds are you getting/loosing?

And finally is there anything else I should know/consider before taking the plunge?
