    HELP - Movies and TV series via USB/External Drive


    Morning Xboxers. Hope you've been well. I've heard soooo much about how awsome this community is sooooooo...I honestly don't know what to do and XBox's Support, Lorraine, was pretty much useless last night and unable to understand what I need help with.
    Soooooooo.. Being that many of you know your stuff I'm sooooo hoping you can assist.

    Alright.. I've owned my XBox for approx 4 years and about 3 years ago a friend's partner, not sure what he did, however he did something to my Xbox which allowed me to easily watch Movies and TV Series via my USB and External Drive. Soooooo excited and such
    a fabulous thing they both did for me sooooo this is where everything is now ***. Being the non IT person that I am, bit of a spaz when it comes to IT, I thought I'd try to connect my XBox to my PC yesterday. Well... I believe I installed all the updates accordingly
    on my XBox however now.. NOTHING plays!!! My Xbox recognises my external drive and my folders on my PC however will not play any of my movies and TV Series now. I guess I'm soooo friggin angry with myself and should've just left well enough alone however I
    didn't realise just by a single action of connecting my XBox to my PC and running updates would stop me from watch everything I had previously been able to view on my XBox. I was communicating with XBox's Lorraine at length last night and sadly she was no
    help. She just wasn't getting the picture that I was able to watch stuff via my USB's and External Drive for years on my XBox and now, after updates, NOTHING!!! If any of your could provide some advice that would be incredibly appreciated. Sorry this is sooooo
    long but just trying to articulate the problem as best as I can. I hope to hear from any of you. HELP - Movies and TV series via USB/External Drive :)

    Can you watch a movie through usb stick?

    there wont be an update to allow you to play movies tv series etc via a usb stick, microsoft and the other companies ..netflix etc will simply lose money if you watch a tv series or a movie through other sources.

    Watching movies with External Hard Disks

    I have two WD external 1tb hard disks with movies on them, can I hook them up to the xbox via usb and watch movies off them through the xbox to my tv?

    Do USB 3.0 Flash drives work with 360?

    The Xbox storage limit for externals... I don't think there is any, because I once hooked up a 500GB external USB Hard drive to see what movies it had and it read it, as well as played the movies off of it(And I have the old xbox w/silver band for 3 years
    and no probs). the Xbox 360, to me, is the closest thing to a PC(That you can't mod or will be banned), being that it is primarily built for xbox 360 games and TV/Video streaming apps and alternative for internet surfing ONLY. So the 360 can read most of anything
    connected to it via USB

    I played the same movies on a usb 2.0 flash drive with no skipping but with my usb 3.0 external hard drive it skips makes no sense

    When i had my 360, I used to hate this about them. I used numerous USB stick and Countless different formats for movies to see what would work. I was able to use a 4gb USB stick to watch movies in the MP4 format. Anything else didn't work. But as far as
    i know theres no patch or software that will let you transfer movies from a USB stick or external hard drive to the xbox internal hard drive. i suggest trying different USB devices as some external hard drives dont even register on the xbox. Also the format
    of the movies you have on USB as anything in MKV wont work. You'll need to convert movies into MP4 or AVI
