    Hi Everyone,

I'm a new university student and i've never owned a game console before. I study in Europe but I'm back and forth on holidays in the Caribbean. I've come across a great offer here in Europe for an Xbox one console and gears of war 4 bundle. I've decided
it's time for me to really considering investing in a console for some relaxation and fun. I've got a few questions though and due to language barriers local electronic salespersons can't help me answer them. I tried a live session chat through Microsoft's
contact us option but I really didn't get much help there so I've turned to the forums.

So here are my questions. According to the answer I got my the live session, the Xbox one is dual voltage 120-240 volts and it's power supply is built in. That means there's just a very basic cable that plugs into the wall outlet and the console itself.
My question is, do any of you know if Microsoft sells a basic cable separately? For example, I want to use my console between Europe and the Caribbean on my summer break, 3 months. The European version will come with a cable that supports European wall outlets
which is different from those used in North America. Can I just buy a USA cable to plug into my console instead of using an adapter?

My next question is about buying games. Are games region locked? If I buy a game in Europe or in North America will I only be able to play the game within the region i bought them or can I carry my games with me between countries?

Please help me answer these questions my fellow gamers. Thank you

    :)

Brand New Slim AC Power Adapter Overheats In 15 minutes!

    Hey there Capn,

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your power adapter.

The power supply used for different consoles in different countries is very specific to help avoid issues with variant voltages and help keep you and your console safe.

    Please refer to the
    Power Supply Information
article on the relevant information for your console and region to find out which power supply unit is the right one for you.

If you have recently changed regions, you should be able to look into purchasing the correct Power Supply for your region by contacting your local
    Phone Support.

Please keep us posted on how everything goes.

To be very specific, only the Xbox One S has dual voltage. Make sure that what you are purchasing is a One S, and not One.

You do NOT need an adapter for your Xbox One S, just a compatible cable - they are pretty cheap and can be found at almost any computer/tech store.

Pics for the plugs you need:

    EU: EU power plug

    US: US power plug

Regarding games: Xbox One games are NOT region locked. Purchase them anywhere and they will play. Xbox 360 games used to be region locked, though.

  5. Hi The Zeniuss,

Thank you for responding. Sorry for the mistake, the bundle I came across is the White xbox one s with gears of war 4. I've looked at amazon, bestbuy and walmart and don't see any official cords that support it being sold with great feedback. I know the
plugs but finding them seems to be an issue. Is it really ok to use a generic plug instead of the official microsoft brand plug? I wouldn't want to void any warranties. As for the games, thanks I was worried buying a game while in europe wouldn't work back
home over the summer in the Caribbean. Cheers for your response man, much appreciated. HELP Issues purchasing xbox one and knowing voltage, adapter capability , region locks :)

Bring my Xbox One to Europe?

You should never use any type of power adapter/voltage converter with your console.

You would need to buy the correct power brick once in Sweden.

Some digital items are region locked so that may be an issue but any physical copies are region free.

    Blu-ray/dvd is also region locked.

Can I play a German Xbox series S in U.K.?

    Hi,

Just like the current Xbox One, the Series X is also region free. Which means you can use it anywhere in the world and games purchased will just work with no regional lock outs. When you turn on the console for the first time you will be able to select the
United Kingdom as your physical region.

Your German console will have a standard European plug, all you will need is a European to UK plug adaptor. EU voltages (including Germany) are 240V the same as the UK.

Just make sure you buy the correct adaptor. It must be capable of powering large electrical appliances. So shaving adapters won't do.

    Xbox OneX international use

    Hi there,

as far as I know discs and console are not region locked game wise.

In regards to power , you will have to double check what it will say on the console what voltage it supports, should also be check what the cable supports.

As far as I know only certain digitally purchased games (or codes) can be regionally locked.
