    Help! IP Address Error! :(


    Please help me!

    I have connected my Xbox 360 on my TV with only an ethernet cable. I have connected my Xbox with my computer for internet so I can play Xbox Live. The internet on my computer is wireless and comes from a router in my house. But when I test the Xbox Live
    Connection it has a IP Address Error.

    I have tried to turn off the console and it didn't work. I have also tried to manually write down the IP Adress on my Xbox, the gateway number and the subnet mask which I found on my computer and fill in the DS Servers but it didn't work.

    I have watched many videos on Youtube how to fix problems such as this. And I also read all the support pages from Xbox and tried it. but it didn't work. Help! IP Address Error! :( :(

    I don't have much money and the cheapest method was to connect the computer to the Xbox with an ethernet cable. Please help me!

    Yeah I tried all that but it started messing up with other computers in the house. So I deleted the connection bridge. But i think I just need to find out how to enable the DHCP on my crossover ethernet cable. Cheers for the help anyway Help! IP Address Error! :( :)

    Hey there, Edgy!

    I'm sorry to see any IP address errors! Just to clarify, in your router, do you have an assigned IP address set up for your console? If not, you can always try that, clear the network settings on your console, and then try again.

    If that doesn't help out, let me know! We'll focus on next steps after that. Help! IP Address Error! :( :)

    Hey there, Edgy!

    I'm sorry to see any IP address errors! Just to clarify, in your router, do you have an assigned IP address set up for your console? If not, you can always try that, clear the network settings on your console, and then try again.

    1. Press the Guide button on your controller, select Settings, and select System Settings.
    2. Select Network Settings.
    3. Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network when the network list is displayed.
    4. Select Configure Network.
    5. On the Additional Settings tab, select Restore to Factory Defaults. When prompted, select Yes, Restore to Factory Defaults.
    If that doesn't help out, let me know! We'll focus on next steps after that. :)

    Oh sorry, I'm using windows vista. But when i go on the services (through search bar in programs) it says it is automatic and working fine? so i don't get what the problem is? "/

    There's no such thing as enabling DHCP on a crossover I'm afraid. Are you sure you've tried the second link it covers bridging and ICS in detail and the IP address error and causes

    Hey there Boyerz, sorry to hear about the connection issue! Okay, it sounds like you've tried a lot, but I'm curious - have you tried manually re-configuring your network connection again, from scratch? If not, I suggest doing so, using the steps in
