Help im getting ddosed!!

In order to DDoS you, the person needs to find your IP address. They do so, by tunneling their Xbox console through their PC, which shows him, to which IP adresses the console connects to, i.e. the IP adresses of the players against which that person is
playing.

If a DDoS attack is taking place, leave the current multiplayer match, and restart your router, which usually gives you a new IP address. So the DDoS attack is "moved" away from your new IP address.

Then, use the console's feature to block this player from contacting you. Xbox Live will try to not match you with that person into a multiplayer match. Without a direct connection to you, be it via a Xbox Live Match, Party chat, or other applications like
a skype call or instant messenger, the person can't usually find your new IP address.

So make sure you simply don't play or get in contact with that person, and they can't get your IP to DDoS you.

And as Smwutches already recommended: Report that gamertag to the Enforcement Team via the console's reporting feature. Do NOT try to fight back yourself! You will only make yourself visible for additional DDoS attacks again if you contact that person!

Try the report a problem feature, you hold down tbe microsoft button on your controller and there is the option. It also allows you to send screen shots and video.

As long as you have filed a complaint on him, the enforcement team will investigate him. Calling out other gamers is not allowed on the forums.

Since ddos attacks are done through your internet and not Live, you would want to contact your ISP to alert them to what is happening so they can help you stay online.

Since the attack is over the open internet and does not involve any part of the Microsoft network, the telephone support agents can't fix this for you. However, a five minute sequential power cycle should result in a new IP address
which will disconnect you from the Denial of Service (DoS) attack, and the order and timing of the steps is important to success:



0) Run
http://www.ipchicken.com in any web browser and record the IP address it found

1) turn off the Xbox and unplug the power supply cord from the back of the Xbox then

2) unplug power from the router (Some folks have a combination modem-router AKA 'gateway' or only use a modem with no router. If either, skip steps 3 & 6).

3) unplug power from the modem.

4) Wait at least 5 minutes then replug the modem/gateway power.

5) Wait 'til the light on the front of the modem/gateway which says BROADBAND, ONLINE, READY, CABLE or DSL is on solid (not flashing), then plug in the router. If you have a gateway instead of a modem and router or a modem with
no router, then when that light says it's ready, skip to step 7.

6) Wait until the WiFi light on the router is on; you may not use WiFi, but it's still a good indicator your router is finished booting up.

7) Plug in and turn on the Xbox.

8) In any web browser, go back to
http://www.ipchicken.com and compare the external IP address to what you had before.



If that did not change, then ask your ISP how you can change it to avoid the DoS attack.

What leads you to believe you are a victim of a DDoS attack?

Simply having your connection remain latent or erratic does not equate to the same situation.

You can change the 'MAC Address Clone' on your router's WAN interface to obtain a different DHCP address from your provider.
