Help! I cannot connect my Xbox one controller to my laptop!

I actually hooked up my laptop with it and tried to watch a movie through my xbox one. Yes it worked but the thing is you cannot control the laptop with the xbox one controller which makes it pointless. I really don't want to waste the HDMI IN port. I was
hoping MS can let us use a windows laptop on xbox one

Sorry but you said that you have to plug it on your laptop and then that you don't have to plug it on your laptop and phone, so I understand that are 2 different laptops

I am using a laptop to play games.

I bought an xbox series controller.

It's connected to my laptop but games are not reading the controller. Meaning the light on the controller is solid and the controller shows as connected in Bluetooth but I can't play games because the controller is unresponsive but only when in a wireless state but functions well in a wired state.

The problem persists on another laptop BUT NOT on my mobile devices.

Someone help me,I'm on the xbox one and I cannot connect to xbox live.i have wifi on my phone and laptop but my xbox cannot connect to the internet,I am on the network settings page and when i check for connection it says"DNS isn't resolving xbox server
names"i have no idea what this means and I have went through many ways on trying to fix this like unplugging my router and modem for 5 minutes then plugging it back in but nothing works

Hi,thank you for taking your time to lend some help, my controller is mainly a wireless one but it does support a wired connection too. I tried connecting it to the Xbox using a wire, but still the controller was yet not lighting up(Logo button). I did plug it to my laptop and to my surprise it turned on for a bit but then the light turned off and there was just vibrations occuring while it was plugged and now the light does not turn anymore when it's plugged to the laptop only vibrations.

If you are like me and have a phone where you cannot change the MAC address. I had to use my pic and an Ethernet cable. By connecting my laptop wirelessly to the hotel wifi and bridging my wifi and Ethernet connections in windows 7 I was then able to just
connect my Xbox one with an Ethernet cable to the laptop. This did give me a moderate mat however.
