Help! How do I retrieve a Profile from USB stick?

Hello -and HELP!

I successfully moved my son's Xbox (360) profile to a USB drive but now I can't get it back onto his Xbox and now under pressure to get this sorted! I'll love you if you can offer anything that will help.

This is what I've done to 'try' and put it back on his Xbox:

From the main menu I selected (with correct USB inserted):

Settings; System; Storage; USB Sorage Device (which now displays two options: "Configure Now" or "Customize")

There doesn't appear to be any option to move the profile back. It's as if the profile is no longer there on the stick. So to check, I inserted the USB into my MAC, changed the settings in a Terminal window to show hidden files and hey presto, there is a
file called 'XBOX360" (which appears as a black box icon with the word 'exec' in top LH corner)

I have also tried booting the Xbox with the USB inserted, in the vain hope it may be 'bootable' drive -to no avail.

I've also tried downloading the saved profile from my xbox account, but this just downloads my account, not his.

Can anybody help me, I'm pretty desperate and am reluctant to tell him that his hours (months) of construction work in Minecraft have been lost.

saved data on USB won't transfer back to xbox360.

I saved my profile and Terraria game data from hard drive onto a USB today, some of it has transferred back whilst some won't move back from the USB, so I have lost all of my Terraria.

Can anyone suggest how I might be able to retrieve downloaded data back to my hard drive? Thanks!

If the stick is saying is needs to be configured then I'm afraid the profile isn't going to be recoverable from there. This wasn't a PNY USB stick by any chance was it, those are notorious for losing data in this manner.

To redownload your son's account you would need to know the email address and password you used when creating it.

Helloooo there!

There's two ways you can do this, although I recommend option 1:

Option 1: Download your profile from the Xbox LIVE Servers.

- Go to your new Xbox, turn it on.

- Open the Xbox menu, and press sign in.

- Go down to where it says 'Download Profile'.

- Follow the steps to login and download your Gamertag

Option 2: Transfer your Gamertag by USB stick.

- Plug in an empty USB stick (USB stick will be formatted - all data will be wiped from USB stick)

- Go to settings -> storage -> all devices -> profiles - Then find your profile.

- Select your profile and press Move.

- Select the USB stick to move the profile to.

- Wait for it to complete, then plug the USB stick into the new Xbox 360 console.

You can now sign into your account on your new Xbox, from your USB stick, or you can move it to your Hard Drive.

i have transfered my profile to a usb stick then removed the hard drive from the xbox. booted up the xbox with the usb stick in and this should work for signing in to live and playing on line. i think the hard drive has got corrupt some how.
