Help for Xbox Original (Not 360 or One)

Just recently, my Xbox just stopped reading disk. Before it happened, the sound of my Xbox started to screw up while I was playing The Elder Scrolls 3, Morrowind. I shut off my Xbox and booted up again to see if it fixes anything, but as a result, I
get the message "Your Xbox can't recognize this disk. Make sure it's an Xbox game, DVD movie, or audio CD. Also check to see if the disc is dirty of damaged. Remove the disk to continue." I swear, all my disk are flawless and have barely any scratches on them.
If you know a way to overcome this problem, please notify me.

External Harddrive Question

Hey, Im currently in India and I have the original xbox 360.

The amazon related site no longer is selling the external harddrives.

Im wondering If I purchase an xbox 360 harddrive slim (the little black one) will that work with the original xbox 360? And if not, is their some way I can make it work with the original xbox 360?



I was looking at the Microsoft Hard Drive Data Interchange Cable, and im a bit confused about this. As far as im aware, this can hook into the original xbox 360 and also the xbox 360 slim hard drive. Is this only used to transfer data, or can I use it as
an external hard drive for the original xbox 360?

Original Xbox Game

I wanna play one of my favorite games, but its an original xbox game, not a 360 game. I have other originals that will play on the 360 but this one wont. The game is still in good condition. Is there an update for my 360 i can download, or is there like
a converter so i can convert the game to play on the 360? please help me, i love this game.

 

Sounds like the disc drive has gone.

There's no repair process for the original xbox anymore so best thing is to try & pick up another console

 

You could also try searching for a fix online, maybe it is a fix you could make on your own. If not, there is probably sites out there that offer repairs, just not sure how much they charge.

 

About 100 dollars...... Look up Game repair on line or the local telephone book.

 

I suggest searching the internet and learn to fix the drive yourself. Try the website llama.com.

 

Firstly, try a laser lens cleaning disc, it only takes a spec of dust on the lens to prevent the disc being read.

Secondly, could be the laser itself that has gone faulty, these are cheap and easy to pick and also fairly easy for anyone with some basic electronic skills to replace.

The original Xbox had three different disc drives used in its manufacture over its lifetime. You should be able to find an on-line guide which shows how to identify which type of drive is installed if you were to require replacement parts.

 

1st Check your discs to see it there is what looks like a cloud in the disc. If there is then the laser light can't be reflected back in order to be read by the laser. Nothing I have found can fix that.

I own 4 of xbox's, and every one had an Optical Drive go bad. Dust, and condensation is a killer, so every once in a while we give ours a through internal cleaning.

llama.com has the info you'll need, and depending on the brand/model of the optical drive. Often someone on Ebay has the parts. Or failing that, do what I did. Check out your local Flee Markets, Thrift Stores, Pawn Shops, Craigslist etc for used Xbox's and
with any luck you'll be able to pick up another 8GB Xbox.

Also, check Youtube for repair video's on the Original 8BG Xbox.
