    Help diagnosing a down Xbox


    I think Fallout 4 killed my Xbox One. I was playing when I started to hear what sounded like a washing machine on spin. I dropped out of the game to the dash board to find the noise still going. Terminated the game and all background program and the noise
    still persisted. Held the power for 10 for hard reset and as the system booted up my TV lost all signal. Tried doing low res boot (held power and eject for 10 seconds) and still have no signal to the TV. I then replace HDMI and got same result as well as
    when I switched HDMI port on my TV from 1 to 2. I then took the system to my living room (where I have the Halo Xbox One) and traded it and it wouldn't connect to the TV. Replaced the unit with my Halo Xbox One and it connected with the TV with no problems.

    Any thoughts on the matter? (serious answers please)

    Long story short, I think I need a video card. Does Microsoft sell replacement parts?

    Hey mate, do you mind posting the error information like the message or code that was displayed? This can help a lot when diagnosing the issue.

    I'm afraid this is not something that we're equipped to diagnose remotely, I suggest you hold down the Xbox guide button on the controller and go to report a problem and reported there so that there is a direct memory dumb to the people that might be able to solve it

    Do you get an error code? That can help diagnose what is wrong with your Xbox at the moment. It's usually formatted as "0x--------", or "E---".

    Hi, Horrorstory069.

    As you’re using an HDMI converter, this may be the reason why the Xbox image is not being displayed properly.

    If this behavior occurs when the Xbox AV connector is being connected to this HDMI converter, it is better to try replacing the HDMI converter before trying again.

    Furthermore, I think can help to diagnose the issue if you bring the console back down and test the image again.

    Hi

    I suspect the best way to try and work out is it is the adapter / controller or microphone would probably be to take everything to one of your friends house so that you can try to eliminate items from the list.

    However the fact that moving the headset cord resolves the issue most likely points to a headset issue, to try to confirm this try securely holding the adapter/microphone jack in the controller then move the cord around to see if you produce the issue.
