Help: Deciding what monitor/tv for X1

im looking to get a monitor or a tv (not sure what would be better) i just want the games to look really good, i currently have a 720p tv but im looking to upgrade to a 1080p for my xbox one. does anyone have any recommendations on a monitor or a tv that
would be perfect for the xbox one. i dont want it to be an overkill, i want something that has great QUALITY for the money and not too expensive, gta 5 is going to be released for the x1 and i want it to look good. HELP!!

4K TVs and Input Lag

I need some help in deciding on what kind of TV to get for my Xbox One X and what specs I should be looking into and considering when purchasing the TV. The one I am currently looking at has 14ms input lag; will this be above average for games such as Overwatch
or SMITE? Competitive gaming is one of the most fun things in my opinion and I would like some help in knowing how much of an effect 14ms will have on my gaming experience? I'm currently using a monitor for my Xbox One S with 6ms and am planning to get a Monitor/TV
and the Xbox One X for Christmas any advice would be great thanks.

 

Question about using TV and Xbox One - multiple screens

So I know that there is an HDMI-in on the X1 that you hook your cablebox to for watching TV, but my question is how does this work for multiple screens?

I don't game on the TV - I game on my PC monitor, so if I ran the HDMI from my cablebox through an HDMI splitter, then plugged one cable into the Xbox one and one into the TV, would this allow for to be watched on both my monitor and the TV? What is the
most optimal way to run what I'm trying to do? Also, would the X1 need to be one for TV to work? Would what I'm watching on my monitor, be independent from what is on the television, so me and my wife could watch different shows at the same time?

 

Depends how big of a monitor TV are you looking for?
This is the monitor I use for my PC but you can plug a console into it via HDMI. I've had it for 3 years now and haven't had any problems with it and the picture quality is fantastic. The only downside is the built in speakers aren't amazing but if you
have surround sound / a bar you can just plug in an optical cable from your X1 to that for sound.

 

Quality but not overkill- I recommend the LG Smart TVs. Gorgeous, without being expensive.

 

I would recommend a Vizio E-Series or a Vizio M-Series. Both have good PQ for a affordable price.

 

I have a vizio 600i-B3 and I really like it.

If you're looking for something up to 28" or so, go with a monitor. If you're looking for something more like a 55", go with a TV.

Other than ensuring good black levels and low input lag, there's not
much you need for a game to "look good" on a TV. For gaming, ignore all the higher refresh rates (120hz, 240hz, 480hz, 600hz, etc). Those higher refresh rates only help the TV do image processing. For gaming, you want no image processing.
Image processing adds both lag and judder, two things you don't want for gaming.

Decide on the size, then you'll know if you should be looking at monitors or TVs.

 

ok thanks guys. my current tv is only 22" so i think like a 24"monitor would be just fine, somewhere around there. So do you guys recommend any monitors that will be great for the X1.

 

I'd got with anything Samsung or Panasonic. I'm still using my 5 year old 52" 60Hz 1080p TV and it still looks amazing. I've even heard friends say that their games look worse on some of the newer 120hz sets because of ghostsing, etc. Even the Vizios and
LG's are coming out cheaper and look great.

 

I have a 47" Samsung in the bedroom which is perfect for the price. You could find a really good Samsung for ~$700. In my living room, I have a 55" LG 3DTV.... that might be overkill for you, but I've had no issues with LG. If I had to pick one, I'd recommend
Samsung.

 

Since you are looking at getting something around 24" I would go with a Sony or Samsung monitor. If you go with a tv, try to get at least 120hz for sure LED. Also keep in mind if you are not happy with the tv you purchase, you usually have anywhere between
15-30 days to return it for free.

Since you're going with monitors, take a look at
Prad and tftcentral. Keep in mind that refresh rates over 60hz won't matter for Xbox One. It's only outputting at up to 60hz.
