Help!? Data Usage

My Xbox is going through so m data I'm being charged so much for Internet it's ridiculous. In May my xbox used 3.23 TB and yes TB not GB! And that's not playing any games or downloading any games. Just an hour or two of Netflix a night! Wtf is going on.

Streaming Xbox One games to Windows 10 - Need help

Maybe that is the case, I have no way to check the data usage right now other than through the windows 10 network settings. I might just ring up our isp tomorrow and check what they say our data usage has been. Just out of curiosity though how come it shouldn't use internet data?

I was wondering since the always online thing is mandatory how much bandwidth does the game use per hour.

Data, internet usage, whatever you call it. I was thinking since Destiny uses such a huge amount of data per hour (something like 1 GB per hour) and since the Division is essentially in the same genre which is share world co-op shooter how much data is being use.

The BETA player might be able to help me with this question

And please don't say I should just get uncapped. If that was a option I would not be asking this question. Thanks for the help in advance.

 

Odd. I have two X Box consoles and combined they use no where near that amount of data. One console is used primarily for games, and that uses between 4Gb and 20Gb; really just depends on the amount of preview/game updates. The other console is used mostly
for Netflix and Vudu, and have never went over 150Gb in a month.

Something is wrong then. There is no way you are using 3,000+ GB/Month just watching movies.

Who else uses your network? Is it secure?

Sounds to me someone is downloading/uploading torrents.

 

Are you using the 4K service?

This might be the reason.

Sounds like your current Data Plan is not fit for your needs.

You should shop around.

Also it's surprising what great deals suddenly crop up if you call your current provider and tell them you want to cancel.

 

Really depends on the area in which you live. Seeing as there is only one viable provider in my area (Satellite doesn't count in my opinion.), they would say, "See ya!". Know this for a fact since a friend and I tried it. Lol.

So you're saying the only thing using your internet is your Xbox?

I have about 17 devices using my router at any given time. lol


If you have a PC you may want to see who is downloading what.
Unless you're "sharing" your internet with your neighbors... with or without your knowledge.

 

3.23 TB? Your average household doesn't use that much in a month. What did you do, watch Netflix in 1,000k? Just kidding, it's likely you been streaming lots of, or long, videos in 4k. Or you should get your ISP to investigate it. It is illegal for your
ISP to overcharge you.

 

Yes I have checked my wireless network and made sure no one else is on it. Nothing is on it besides my xbox one and I checked my network settings on the Xbox where it tells you how much you've used and it was 3.23TB from 5/1/2016 to 5/31/2016.

 

That isn't possible I believe Netflix says it uses up about a gig an hour. I download a ton of games plus watch Netflix and most I've ever used is 200 gigs in a month

 

You might want to contact your provider and ask them to tell you what this sort of usage would be consistent with and then if you haven't actually been using it like that ask them to explain why you have such usage.

Let us know what they say.
