    HI All

    I now this might not be the best/right place for this but ive tried everything else.

    My account has been barred from purchasing items or adding pre paid cards by having a risk bar placed on it.

    I have spoken with Xbox support and they raised an escalation to the Global Escalation Support. team who sent me the below

    My name is Kia with Xbox Global Escalation Support. Thank you for your patience while this issue was investigated. I would like to take a moment to explain the situation surrounding the issue with your Xbox Live account.



    It has been determined by our security team that purchase and pre-paid code (PPC) redemption must be disabled on this account due to the detection of suspicious and/or fraudulent activity. I regret to inform you that we are unable to restore these functions
    to your Xbox Live account. While I understand this is certainly frustrating, please be advised that account security and the protection of your personal information is of the utmost importance to Microsoft.



    While you can still use this account to play games offline, you will not be able to make purchases or redeem pre-paid codes (PPCs). This account will not be able to access Xbox Live as you will not be able to add a subscription, so you will need to create
    a new account if you want to be able to use Xbox Live. However, there are a couple of workarounds that you can use to continue using this account if you want to be able to play games offline.



    1. You can purchase physical game discs from The Microsoft Store or other 3rd party retailers.
    2. You can create a secondary account on xbox.com and make purchases on your console using that account. As long as the content is purchased on your console, you can use it with any Xbox Live account that is downloaded to that console.


    I understand that this is not an ideal solution and I apologize that we are not able to resolve this issue as you would like. Given the nature of this issue, there is no further support that Microsoft or Xbox representatives can provide.

    I then spoke with a manager at xbox support who got in contact with them and advised me my account has apparenlty been barred as a request was put through a bank account attached to my live account for a refund, resulting in me
    having free content.

    I have never done this on my account whenever i have had issues with purchases or anything ive contacted Xbox.

    They are refusing to give me a chance to prove this wasnt me/wasnt on my account as my bank statments and purchase history on my account show i havent done this and they essentially its barred a 10 year old account which ive spend alot of time and dedication
    on without providing any kind of prove or providing a means of appeal.

    Is there anyone hear that nows of a way to get in touch with somone higher or how to resolved this as i dont want to loose my account.

    Please Help

    Not sure what they mean by "barred".

    I doubt you are banned/suspended if you can sign in.

    You would need to contact support again as they are the only ones that have access to your account & can help resolve this.

    You would need to disconnect the Steam account from your Xbox profile. To do that, open the Xbox Game Bar, select the Settings (cogwheel) on the top bar. Then, go to Accounts on the left bar of the Settings widget, and select Unlink on the Steam section.

    Hello again and thanks for the commitment to help me through this.

    Unfortunately, creating a brand new account and attempting to use Xbox Game Bar (after making sure Xbox and Game Bar itself were installed too) ended up in me getting the very same issue on that option and on top of this, I'm unable to even access the in-Bar Xbox Game Bar Settings through the in-Bar wheel icon.
    Elaborating through, I crossed the thought of whether there's any Administrator permission I could attempt to give to Xbox Game Bar through my main Admin account in some way you may know of.. Let me know.

    Cant open Xbox game bar

    Okay, within this thread there are directions to uninstall and reinstall the Game Bar: game bar (Windows+G) not working - Microsoft Community

    If you could also submit feedback through the windows feedback tool, this will help us understand where the Game bar and Windows are interacting and are seeing issues. You can also try opening the event viewer and opening Xbox Game Bar through the Start Menu search function and see if there is a crash of any kind and what may be causing it.

    Xbox Game Bar says "We can't show your friends right now. Try again in a bit." Notifications and invites are also broken as a result.

    Hey! I just had a similar issue and heres the steps i took that fixed this,

    I opened the xbox app, not the game bar.

    i signed out of my microsoft account from there, as well as signing out on the game bar

    I signed back in and opened the game bar after

    And boom my friends list was appearing again!

    Try going to the Xbox support forums, and see if you can get an answer there. I'm sure someone will be able to help you with your account (I'm also pretty sure you don't have to create a new account for something like that.)

    You can get there by going: Xbox Forums > Xbox Support

    It's on the gray bar below the green main site bar. Good luck with recovering your account!
